An app called Pi Network, a cryptocurrency ‘mining’ app for android mobile users as like many more apps are also available in the market. Although, Pi is a famous and popular project among people all around the world.

Let's know some things about the Pi Network app.

Pi Network leaked 17GB worth of personal data of Vietnamese citizens, according to a Vietnamese news outlet which was reported on (17)Monday.

That 17GB of data contains faces images, Identity cards of an estimated 10,000 Vietnamese citizens, were placed for sale, along with their home addresses, contact numbers and email addresses. The hacker placed a price tag of $9000 on the data for sale, which is payable in Bitcoin (BTC) or Litecoin (LTC). Available on online cyberhacking forums.

Cybersecurity expert said: A cybersecurity expert contacted with the hacker who claimed, he has the 17GB of personal data of 10,000 users on online forum ‘Raidforums’.

Question is how does the app got all the personal data of the miners?

After installing the app 'Pi Network' users has to register on the app before using it through the third party app called Yoti. They have to perform KYC verification on Pi Network to use it with any of their personal identification document.

Pi Network moderator said!

Apps doesn't collects any data and its impossible to leak any kind of data through the app the KYC process also conduct by a third party app. Yoti app verifies users data across (62) countries & territories but Vietnam is not available in the list.

Also Pi Network user said!

Pi Network neither receives nor collects any ID cards, kyc is done by Yoti which is a third party app and it only accepts passport from Vietnamese. Pi Network is out there. No matter how hard you try to attack.

Earlier this year Vietnamese have experienced major data leaked around 3,00,000 personal information.
