We have all heard this before that the three things in life that are essential and we cannot live without are food, clothing and shelter.

India is a dream destination for food enthusiasts, the variety of foods that make up the traditional or modern Indian diet are one of a kind and cannot be found anywhere else in the world.

Due to exposure to other cultures and improvement in the living standards the present generation is willing to experience and try out the cuisine of other countries.

The last few years have seen a number of foreign restaurants in India, most of them being fast food that are loved by children and gradually our eating habits have changed.

India is a country that has a traditional and balanced diet that needs to be followed, this does not mean that we live in the past, we need to change our food habits, there is a reason why the youth are dying early and the old generation continue to live healthy lives.

Here are some reasons why we must return to the traditional Indian diet, if we want to remain in good health:

A) The traditional Indian diet regardless of where you live uses ingredients that have healing benefits and helps the digestion process to function smoothly.

B) Those who keep a track of their eating habits and want to live a healthy lifestyle will tell you that the traditional Indian diet is not just about keeping in shape, it is about having the energy and enthusiasm that we get from eating right.

C) Using the right type of cooking oil makes a difference, we love fast food because they are deep fried which makes it tasty and is high in calories and cholesterol, the alternative to this is using the right cooking oil that is used to prepare traditional Indian diet that does not have any harmful effects.

D) Nowadays, most people especially children avoid eating vegetables and fruits because it does not look good or it is not tasty, the fact is health foods need not be necessarily tasty and this is where the traditional Indian diet makes a difference, it includes lots of vegetables and fruits that are essential for the normal functioning of the human body.

E) It is easy to get addicted to fast food because it contains saturated fats, which makes us want to eat more, this can be avoided if we go back to the traditional Indian diet which includes boiled food and curries that do not have an adverse impact on your wellbeing.

F) It is said that forbidden fruit tastes sweetest, when you tell someone not to eat something, they will do exactly the exact opposite, we must learn that eating imported and canned food does not improve our fitness, the traditional Indian diet is much better and more balanced in terms of nutrients, taste and flavor.

In the end, if we want to have a healthy future, then we need to bring back the traditional Indian diet, it is as relevant today as it was in the past and we must consider ourselves blessed to have something that will keep us going for a long time to come.
