Independence day in India is being celebrated every year on 15th August to celebrate the freedom obtained from the British rule from 1947. We too show our patriotrism through our posts,  videos,  vlogs and blogs, hoisting the Indian flag,  singing the national anthem,  listening/saying big speeches about the sacrifice and heroic acts of our freedom fighters and our ancestors and without fail honouring the martyrs of soldiers who passed away the previous year... Is this all enough to show our patriotrism? Is it all reduced to show off only?  Are we really celebrating freedom and independence? Or is it just a day where we only remember about our flag, its importance may be attempt a silly quiz or competition?  Should it be like this? This small poem tries to convey my take and opinion of Independence Day celebrations... 

Independence day is really special to all

It's the day that saved us from the great fall

We have overcome the struggles and pain

We no longer bear the cries or the stain

Of the blood of our brethen that drained

We live in glory and in happiness for what they sacrificed

But is the indepence still intact after 74 years? 

If so why are many striving and often in tears? 

Is there no rule for a new resolution every year? 

To make it better for Indians and stay without fear? 

Even now we all live with the fear of tomorrow! 

We don't know when we will drain in sorrow! 

An illness in family is all that is needed

To bring a family to streets totally uprooted

Why not take the good from other nations? 

Rather follow customs that bring suffocations? 

If the martyrs are honored why is their family in disgrace? 

Why are atheletes thrown away if they lose a race? 

Aren't all professions same and have value? 

But why no care when the business affects you? 

Shouldn't all be treated and given a chance? 

Even if it means all they want to do is dance!

All of us need a common platform for talents

So that there won't be any to steal patents

Nobody to judge what we do and how

But be paid and live in diginity with love

For humanity, society, animals and nature

Let this day be celebrated by donating to the poor

From the officials who run on random family tour

With no publicity but proper written proof

So that many more will live under a roof

My India needs empathy but no publicity stunts

No more money that allows human monster hunts!

This as I said is my opinion and let me make clear that am not insulting the rich/ politicians/ any community.....
