Our society is seeped in corruption and according to status stands second in the world for corruption. What is corruption? It is illegal taking of money to do a job or the giving of speed money to get a job done. 

We are living in the age of Science and Technology. Science and Technology has claimed numerous gadgets and machine that has made our life sophisticated and worthwhile. A person born with a golden spoon in his mouth can easily afford to buy the latest ones available in the market. Only 5% people fall in this category.Nearly 80% people remain satisfied with what they have.The main problem lies with the remaining 10% people who lie between the two above strata. These people normally have some power in their hand due to particular status. They get tempted to all these things very easily.They cannot get all these things of luxury in their normal salary so they adopt unfair means i.e. what we call corruption.

Corruption can be seen at its glory in the governmental departments where the scope increases proportionately with the number of rules and regulations.Corrupt officials asks for bribes to release licences,quotas,visas,to reduce the excise ,penalty,etc. Colleges and schools too have started taking unaccounted donations to give admissions. Some of the teachers too are known to take bribes to pass the students. It is indeed shameful as these institutions are supposed to be the temples of learning.

The need to possess these things is so high in their minds that they don't even think about the consequences they may have to face if caught. Their heart is pure but the mind becomes corrupt so they start exploiting all those people who come in their contact.This lead to a great imbalance in the society and hence,it is called as the greatest social evil.At different places it exists at different forms right from a small office to the government.Unless the demand is fulfilled the work does not get completed.The rich people can easily get their work done because of money or influence.

The main problem lies with the poor who just live from hand to mouth. Nowadays the crime is increasing, it is a result of this discontent only.Concrete measures must be taken by all of us so as to put an end to this social evil.Each one of us should say “NO TO CORRUPTION.” Anyone who adopts this unfair paths should be exposed with the help of gadgets. It should be published in the newspaper and live video recording can be shown on the television. This wll certainly help in preventing corruption.

Why is India one of the most corrupt countries in the world? If we try to trace the origin,it will be in our sociological set up.When we have evils like dowry system,a daughter's father will try his utmost to get his hands on whatever he can to be able to get the girl married if he cannot do so in his low income. Rampant consumer is also another cause.Everyone wants to keep up with the Jones and in this rat race all ethics and morals are forgotten.

Corruption is rife in every strata of the society,and it is this which is sapping us of the strength as a nation like termite from within.
