Like your wisdom teeth and your tailbone, Goosebumps serve no purpose in modern humans. They are created by itty-bitty muscles in our hair follicles, which raise the bumps as a reflex reaction towards sudden drop in temperature or feelings of panic , anger, or extreme fear. Goosebumps fluffed  up the body hair of our much furrier ancestors to help trap heat or make them look larger to threatening animals. Today,  Goosebumps just make you look like you need to borrow a sweater.

Goosebumps are a vestigial futures of the human body. Meaning that while they once  served an important function, evolution has rendered them UN- important . While there are rare instances when a pilomotor response suggests a medical issue, it's  usually just an outward reflection of surging hormones, big emotions or a literal chill.

Researchers led by Drs.ya-chieh Hsu from Harvard University and sung Jan Lin from National Taiwan University used skin samples from mice to explore what other roles goosebumps might play. previous research identified a trio of cell types that work together to create goose bumps; sympathetic nerves,and the hair follicles.

  WHY IS IT THAT DEAD PEOPLE  CAN GET Goosebumps THROUGH.

   It is not a living response that caused the decrease to get the bumps. Their reactions are cause by the rigor mortis that affects all of the muscles of the body . The hair follicles react the same way .As the hair follicles refract  the raised  bumbs appear . Although they look the same as the cold caused bumps the living get , the reaction that the dead get is of no help to them.
