Once upon a time, there was girl who lived in a castle, she was a cute chubby girl with fluffy cheeks, round eyes and full pink lips. Her hair were long and wavy, black as the sky during new moon.
Her eyes brown but sparkling due to her dreams, her dream of traveling the world, meeting new people and maybe someday find a place or a person who will make her realize ‘Ah I am home.’
But she used to hear a lot of things from the people that surrounded her,
When she was moping the floor her co-worker would say “This is our life and our dreams are supposed to swipe away like this dust.” She would whimper in pain listening to those words.
When she was making the king's bed, spreading that silky smooth bedsheet, her co-worker would say “ Our dreams are covered with a heavy and rough bedsheet of poverty, how can we look ahead of this when darkness always consume us.” She would again whimper because of the harsh reality.
At night she would look at the sky that was vast, twinkling with stars. Her eyes would roam around the different twinkle of stars, every star was not same, some were small, some were less bright but still they adorne the sky making the sky a big ball of hope.
All those harsh words of her co-worker would vanish and she would again dream of her almost impossible dreams.
One day she was cleaning a big pot in the palace kitchen, the chef was collecting the ingredients to make feast for their beloved king. From the corner of her eyes she saw the chef adding a flower in the prepared mixture.
She knew that flower very well, that flower used to grow near their farm, she was a farmer's daughter so she was well versed with the flower that are used to keep away the insects.
She didn't know what she should do, she is just a lowly worker, she would be killed and dumped somewhere if she rattled the chef's plans, her superior.
She still wanted to warn the king, after washing the pot she went to the section where accessorie for tableware was stored.
She picked up the napkin and made sure it was King's, she was discreet enough.
She went for bathroom break and sew the flower on the napkin, under the flower there was a word that will alert the king.
Now the tough part, she has to make sure this napkin reaches the king, she has to make sure she was the server today and somehow the luck was on her side.
One of the co-worker was sick so she has to take her place. She took few deep breaths and picked up the plate which will be directly given to the king.
She kept the napkin under the plate and went near the king and served the meal.
The napkin was not seen by the king as the plate was covering it, she again went near the king to fill his glass with water and whispered ‘napkin under the plate’ she doesn't know if the king heard or not as it was the lowest whisper.
But the king heard and took the napkin, he unfolded it and read the word ‘veleno’ it was in italics.
She had her fingers crossed, she hopes the king gets the message.
“Chef, I want you to eat this first.” The king said to the chef and the chef lost his composure for a second but took hold of himself and said “I already tasted it my king, the food is safe.”
The king looked at the chef without saying anything and the chef started sweating, he took steps towards the food with his shaky legs when he was about to reach the plate, he took a u-turn wanting to run but was caught.
“I am sorry my king, I am sorry.” The chef kept on pleading when he was dragged towards the dungeons.
The girl sighed in relief, thei king was saved.
Next day when she entered the palace, she was directly called by the king, she was scared and shaking like a leaf, she felt she was in trouble.
“On your feet my child.” The king said to the girl who was bowing with her legs hugging the ground.
She was now standing with her shaky legs but she was still not looking at the king, her eyes was boring holes on the carpeted floor.
“You did a good job yesterday, ask anything, you will be rewarded well.” The girl looked at her king with shock at first and then she cried with relief, she was not in trouble.
“Freedom.” She just said that word and the king granted. Her father's debt was forgiven and she can now go wherever she wants to.
When she was leaving the palace with her small bag, she looked at her co-workers, they were standing near the palace gates giving here farewell “Everyone has the right to choose, choose wisely.” She said and left without looking back.
She was a star who was dull among other bright stars but that didn't stop her from twinkling.
