The padmanabhaswamy temple is a Hindu temple that has existed for centuries in the state of kerela in it's capital city Thiruvananthapuram.Since it is   centuries old, this temple finds mention in the Vishnu Purana, Brahma Purana, Bhagwat Purana and even in the Mahabharata.

Padmanabhaswamy is known as the world's richest temple and the temple acquired this position of “ the richest temple in the world” in the revelation of it's wealth in the year 2011. It was revealed that below the surface is a deep underground chambers filled with unimaginable treasure.  These treasures are kept in six secret vaults or big rooms named A to F respectively. When they opened these vaults they discovered large containers filled to the brim with precious and priceless stones, coins and jewellery . The priceless stones , coins and jewellery were even lying scattered all over the floor.

A necklace of 18 feet length of pure gold, a solid golden throne studded with diamonds, thousands of gold chains and many thousands of gold pots and many many gold coins of mediaeval , roman and pre- christians  era coins some even dating as far as 200 BCE , a three and a half feet tall statue of pure gold of idol of Mahavishnu with hundreds of pieces of diamonds and gold studded in it have been found. Bags full of precious gems, necklaces and ancient artefacts weighing upto 800kgs were also discovered. And if we estimate it's present value at present gold rates and weighs the value of each bag is whooping four hundred (400) crores. And the value of whole treasure is seventeen billion US dollars or in Indian currency one lakh nineteen thousand. This seventeen  billion is just the cost of the material of gold, but when one will consider the fact how ancient they are, the artisans, it's cultural value the price  goes up ten times the estimated value. 

Out of these 6 vaults, the most mysterious is the vault B . This door has mysterious carvings of snakes as if they are guarding the treasure inside whose values are estimated to be far more than the one's found in other five vaults. It would supposedly bring destruction if opened without a mystical mantra. This vault is alleged to be cursed and hence has never been opened. People estimate the treasure inside it could be of an unimaginable proportion.  But current scenario hints that is unlikely to be opened in near future.
