Rwanda is a small landlocked African nation located in East Central Africa. Earlier Rwanda used to be a Belgian colony before it gained independence in 1962. Rwanda is infamously known internationally for the horrible genocide of 1994 where 8,00,000 tutsi people where slaughtered by members of the Hutu majority within 100 days. This civil war crippled the small nation economically and socially.

But since paul kagame took over the nation in1995 , he intends on turning Rwanda into a technological capital modelled after Singapore. He is using the exact same method as Lee Kuan of Singapore ,the person who was able to lead Singapore from third to first world nation in less than half a century, so Rwanda is often referred to as Singapore of Africa.

Because of his rules and policies and dedicated contribution of it's citizen Rwanda is developing at an insane speed. It's capital City Kigali has become the pride of Africa when it comes to cleanliness and Kigali is the cleanest place in Africa. To achieve this , paul kagame included several measures : like ban of non biodegradable bags in 2002 , by doing so Rwanda became the first nation in Africa to ban production and import of plastic bag. Rwanda has zero tolerance towards plastic bags and it's illegal possession can lead one to jail for six months or can be fined. Besides this, paul kagame made it mandatory for all citizens to join a community clean up day once a month on the fourth Saturday. He also introduced cleanliness and hygiene awareness programme in schools.

The other measures he implemented are creation of the concept of  “umuganda", which means coming together for a meaningful purpose; regulation of street vendors and hawkers, his government encouraged the hawkers to sell their products at assigned markets in order to avoid littering of streets;  next he planted trees in great numbers to  clean up the country air; next he built a green economy. All these measures greatly helped Rwanda to achieve their goal of cleanliness.

In 2019, Rwandan was ranked second most popular conference destination for international meeting. The government has been investing hugely in infrastructure to maintain this rank. Kagamis government is building modern Villages for low income citizens for free. The houses are supposed to have all the basic necessities, water,electricity, proper sewer systems and schools , hospitals,shops and communal hall .

Rwanda is a true example of how a country can overcome it's dreadful past and dwindling economy and make a comeback .
