Nefertiti, which means “ the beautiful woman has come” was born in 1370 BC but who exactly was her parent is still somewhat a mystery. Some evidences suggests that she was the daughter of a top advisor named Ay , another evidence proposes that she was the daughter of Amenhotep. Nefertiti was married to Akhenaten when she was 15 years old. Akhenaten, the Pharaoh had multiple wives but Nefertiti was the closest to him . They had six daughters together.
The royal family lived in various palaces and grandeur complexes. There was a temple of the name Gempateen which was solely devoted to Nefertiti. Amenhotep the fourth, inherited a colossal amount of wealth, a prosperous kingdom as a Pharaoh. Nefertiti was bestowed with many titles during her life time, some of which includes, “ “Hereditary Princess”, “great of praises”, “ lady of grace”, “ sweet of love”, “ lady of the two lands”, “great king's wives”, “ Lady of all women”, “ High priestess of Aten” ," a political revolutionary", a “ beauty icon” . Nefertiti and Akhenaten were solely responsible for the religious revolution during that period. This act of theirs forced the people of Egypt to abandon their assemblage of Gods and worship only a single deity, the Aten or the sun god Ra . Nefertiti was more influential than the previous Egyptian queens and this influential power first promoted her to the rank of co- pharaoh and then eventually to the rank of sole pharaoh of Egypt. She further strengthen her position and is depicted as a symbol of strength and authority. She conducted worship of Aten, drove a chariot and smitted enemies of the Empire. She was heavily involved in all aspects of the royal court. They replaced the god Amen with the god Aten and shifted their new capital two hundred miles North, to Aket -Aten.
The temples of previous gods were shut down and their priests were forced to convert. They tried to completely remove the old gods by building an entire city of Tell-el-Amar. They also changed their names in order to gravitate the significance of the newly introduced religion by them. Nefertiti adopted the name Neferneferuaten and Amenhotep the four became Akhenaten and the both of them assigned themselves the role priests of Aten. Though their subjects were reluctant to abandon the already existing gods and accept their newly introduced religion but going against them was the most easiest way to get killed. The two further became intolerant and emptied their resource in order to enforce their idea of religious beliefs. As a result the Kingdom sank into debt .
