North sentinel island is a part of a group of islands of Andaman and Nicobar and is home to a rare tribe of India the sentinelese tribe. It is located just sixty kilometres away from a well established city port Blair but there's a humongous difference of 60,000 years in our and their civilization. The island on which they live is sixty square kilometres in area and is mostly covered with forest and is surrounded by rich aquatic life.
Sentinelese people have detached themselves completely from the whole world. It is estimated by some historians that they have been living on this island since 60,000 years. They are basically described as hunters and gatherers who inhabited this island before the discovery of agriculture. Since they have been living on this island without the interference with the outside world, no one can understand their language. Since sentinelese have been living in such an extreme isolation their bodies haven't developed immunity against the modern world diseases.
Since there is a language barrier between them and the outside world , an interaction with them can result in one's death . They don't even know how to create fire and lacks knowledge about agriculture so they depend on hunting, fishing and wild plants for their food. They have created some powerful weapons to deal with the outside world and have been protecting their island aggressively using those self made weapons.
They kill anyone who arrives close to their island whether intentionally or accidentally. There are various reports of violent encounters with them. The first was in 1896 , when an Indian criminal ran from the jail of Port Blair and accidentally landed on this island, the members of this tribe killed them . In the year 1974 when national geographic explorer team Reached close to their island the members of the tribe attacked their ship with arrows and one of the arrows hit the director's left leg. In 1981 a cargo ship stopped working close to their island, their ship was too attacked by them and the crew members battled them using flare guns and metal pipes until they received assistance from the Indian Navy.
Apart from negative encounters there is a report of one positive encounter too. In 1991 trilok nath pandit experienced a positive and peaceful encounter, he wasn't attacked by them and he distributed coconuts to them and they accepted it with a smile. After this the government of India decided to protect their identity and thus banned all kinds of research related to this island.
