Nero was born in 37 AD in Antium Italy as Lucius Domitius Ahenobarbus on December 15. When he was only two,his father Gnaius Domitius Ahenobarbus died of edema and he became emperor at the age of just seventeen. But Neros legacy is marked by extreme contradiction. Emperor Nero is allegedly associated with extravagance tyranny and murders. He supposedly went about seducing married women and young boys and murdered people at random.A rage filled and frustrated Nero even tried to strangle Octivia ,his wife because he was unable to bear child for him so eventually Nero began having affair with different woman.
His choice of mistresses led to furious arguments with his mother who felt her control slipping away ,so he threatened Nero to remove him from the throne and bestow his stepbrother with this power. This infuriated Nero and it's believed he poisoned his stepbrother because of this and also because he was jealous of his singing voice. Nero also ordered a Roman soldier to kill his own mother in 59AD claiming she was guilty of treason and her death was a matter of public safety. Not only this Nero ordered murdering of his family members and friends in order to maintain his political power.
After the death of his mother, unusual things started happening in Rome like earthquakes destroyed homes and violent mobs erupted in the streets followed by actual hell fire. In July 64 AD then great fire of Rome began and it lasted for six days and destroyed one third of the city killing hundreds of people. But out of nowhere Nero blamed the Christians for the fire without any evidence and ordered his soldiers to throw them to the dogs ,to burn them and crucified them, thus starting the Trend of Christian persecution in Rome. So he was also known as antichrist.
He did rebuilt Rome after the fire but he also built a golden temple complete with a 100 foot tall bronze statue of himself. It was a massive palace complex that eventually took up nearly one third of Rome. With this action people started interpreting him of starting the great fire and watch rome burn to the ground so he could get a place for bilding this golden temple. In 68 AD the senate declared Nero as public enemy because everyone had enough of Neros antics and violence. It is believed that on knowing this Nero fled and committed suicide by stabbing himself in throat.
