Elizabeth Bathory was born in 1560 and was one of the four children of Baron George Bathory and Baroness Anna Bathory .She was the member of one of the most powerful families in the kingdom of Hungary. As a child Elizabeth was exposed to some horrific atrocities and brutal punishments that were given out by her family officers on their estates. She witnessed ,  Once a gypsy accused of theft was sewn up in the belly of a dying horse and left to die,but instead of being disturbed by this incident it is believed that Elizabeth was laughing.

At the age of 10 she was engaged to a 15 year old named Count Ferenc Nadardy and in 1575 they married and lived together in Castle Csejthe. In 1604 her husband passed away . There was a sudden spread about her sadistic activities. It is said that Elizabeth Bathory believed she found the secret of eternal youth. She used to bathe in the blood of virgins to maintain her youth. Elizabeth supposedly ordered her servants to drain the the maid's blood into a bath so she could well bathe in it.She is also said to have assaulted and murdered female servants. Some of Bathory's victims were covered with honey and left outside for insects to devour.During colder parts of the year , young woman might be stripped Naked and forced into deathly ice baths.Three old woman and a boy were her execution squad and her chief torturers.

It was only about five or six years later Bathory was caught, but sources aren't entirely consistent in the agreement of how she was caught. Her high status meant she could not be jailed as a common criminal so in 1611 in an isolated castle high up in the mountain she was about to begin her death sentence by spending the rest of her life imprisoned in a single room as she was cinvicted of murdering over 600 young girls. Her four servants were arrested and were sentenced to death.

No check on power tends to corrupt an individual and absolute power corrupts absolutely. But there's always a other side to the story so is in this case. Some historians and scholars claim that the instrument used by Elizabeth to torture supposedly was a healing instrument to burn the wounds and Stop the bleeding and her kin tried to create conspiracy against her to remove a powerful local rival and her four servants were tortured to confess. We should always be open to listen to other side of the story too.
