In this modern era, little do people believe  that there are indeed haunted places that are supposedly haunted by spirits from a parallel world. I'll be writing about two such places which are situated in Rajasthan.

1.Bhangar fort: Considered as one of the most haunted places of India Bhangar fort is  situated in Alwar district of Rajasthan next to sariska tiger reserve and was built in 16th century by Bhagwant Das for his younger brother Madho Singh .Bhangar fort earlier existed as a beautiful and powerful city inside a wall fortress. It is believed that over 10,000 people used to reside in Bhangarh fort before it was allegedly deserted overnight.

Bhangar fort

There are many tales surrounding this fort but the two most talked about are one of sage named Baba Balunath who used to reside in Bhangar and allowed the construction of fort on one condition only that the shadow of any of the bulidings constructed should not reach shrine and if this happens entire village will be cursed and bhangar will be destroyed and curse came into play as his condition wasn't fulfilled. The other story is that of a occult practitioner Singhia who fell in love with princess Ratnagiri as her beauty captivated his heart and in order to entice her ,he put a love spell on a oil (or itar) and sent to her .Princess Ratnagiri had a knowledge about Black magic and she recognised the spell and threw the oil at Singhia who died a painful death but while dying he cursed that place to be haunted by his spirit.Today it is managed by government of India and archaeological survey of India has prohibited people from visiting the Bhangarh fort,a warning board is there warning people not to enter this place after sunset. Though the board doesn't mention  the reason for its instruction but people say that it is believed that there is hidden treasure inside the fort so to keep people away from it's discovery people aren't allowed to visit it after sunset and the other reason is that since  in close proximity to this fort lies Sariska tiger reserve so to protect people from being attacked they are warned not to visit this fort after sunset .But people who visited the fort claimed to have heard laughter, sound of anklets and have even got hurt . And there are some people who haven't experienced any of these things. It is said it's all in your mind if one will visit this fort with preconceived notions they might experience spooky things but if one visits it only as a tourist place they might not experience anything of this sort. What's the truth no one knows but surely there are many versions of stories that classify this fort as haunted fort .
