This is the third best-selling novel by Chetan Bhagat.
An account of business, cricket, and religion is found in The Three Mistakes of My Life. Three buddies from Ahmedabad, India, are the subject of the narrative. The story starts with an email from an unidentified person to Mr. Bhagat stating that he has attempted suicide due to his three life faults. Mr. Bhagat wants to visit the email's author in Ahmedabad, India, now that he knows it was Govind Patel.
As a result, he takes a direct flight from Singapore to India to find out what is wrong with him. Govind is astonished to see the recipient of the email when he gets to the hospital where he is being treated. Mr. Bhagat then asks him to describe what had transpired, but he declined. He believes it to be a private affair that nobody should know about. Mr. Bhagat tells Govind that everyone will sympathise with him as a result of his narrative. Govind is eager to share his story after lengthy discussions. Govind enjoys math and aspires to succeed in business. Ishaan enjoys playing cricket, but he falls short of realising his goal of becoming a national player. Omi is the son of a priest at a nearby temple, but he has no interest in becoming one. Govind has the worse financial circumstances compared to Ish and Omi because his father abandoned him and he now lives in poverty. He must therefore pay tuition for math and is unable to attend college. He enjoys business because he makes money through his own efforts because of this. He asks his closest pals to assist him since he wants to realise his goal. Govind is thinking of building a cricket shop. Ish and Omi concur with it. They then launch a tiny company and offer anything associated with cricket. The store in the temple is one that belongs to Omi's family. The store is called "The Team India Cricket Shop."
Govind's goals have increased as his cricket shop business has prospered. They receive their portion, while the company keeps the balance. Govind responds that it is for their business when Ish asks what it is for. He doesn't even want to use it to fulfil Ish's request to buy a TV. Govind advises that they should expand their store by leasing space in the Navrangpura mall. Even he has a plan to run a different enterprise in their store. For instance, Govind begins teaching arithmetic, Ish launches a cricket coaching programme, and Omi starts a fitness programme. Govind is the source of all of these suggestions to boost revenue. Then, in various parts of India, including Navrangpura, an earthquake occurs that severely ruins the infrastructure. Govind visits his new shop to make sure everything is okay with it. He witnesses the collapse of every structure in Navrangpura, which is a dreadful sight. Even before it opens, their store is devastated. Govind is surprised to learn that his chances of success are gone and feels helpless. He regrets spending too much money on his company; this is one of his first errors.
Ishaan requests Govind's assistance one day in teaching his sister Vidya arithmetic. Vidya needs to pass the math exam if she wants to enrol in a medical college. Govind is willing to comply because his friend asked him to. He wishes to support his close pal. Govind then begins instructing Vidya in maths. Govind tries his best to help her learn each arithmetic lesson. Even Govind sets rules for how to arrange his arithmetic lessons for Vidya.
Ishaan also had his first encounter with Ali. Ali is a Muslim child with excellent cricket skills. Ishaan instructs Ali as a result to develop his skills. The three pals travel to Goa at one point to see Ali play in a cricket competition. Fortunately, they run into Australian team member Fred Li. Because of Ali's amazing cricket playing talent, Fred Li advises that Ali enrol in the local cricket academy. Ali is therefore invited to travel to Sydney along with the other three buddies. They travel to Sydney and have a variety of experiences. They get along well with the Australians and teach Ali how to play cricket. Fred recognises Ali's extraordinary talent. He offers the gifted boy a scholarship, but Ish says they can only remain for a week. Ali wants to receive a scholarship from Fred Li and his Australian buddies after watching him play cricket for several days. Sadly, he has to be an Australian to understand it. Ali politely declines the invitation because he doesn't want to. He takes pride in being an Indian. Rather than Australia, he prefers to play cricket for India.
