Hello friends, welcome back to another blog of mine in this blog I am going to talk about the Kathak  maestro Birju Maharaj who is no long with us he died of a heart attack on 17 January 2022born on February 4 1937 in Handia town of Uttar Pradesh  he was master of kathak and a leading exponent of Kalka Binda Gharana born in a well known kathak dancing family he started his dancing career by performing with his father he started learning kathak at the age of 9 . He became a dance teacher at the age of 13 at the  age of 28 he started an Indian National academy for music, arts and dance awards . He was known for his perfect style , gesture and rhythm . by blending elements of his father and uncle he developed a unique style of dancing according to him his precision of footwork is inherited from his father he was also known for addressing a number of various social issues through his dance he was not only a great dancer accept this he also credited for promotion of dance drama in country accept all of these he was a well known classical singer as well he also composed a couple of songs for the movie Satranj Ke Khiladi in 1977 over the years he give number of lectures on demonstrations he was also awarded the highest civilian award Padma Vibhushan in the year 1986 he also received the Lata Mangeshkar Purushkar in 2002 accept that he also have his own Kathak school. As a dancer he always believe in new things he believed that a dancer should have a knowledge of musical instruments he also work as a choreographer for the movies like Dedh Isqiya and Bajirao Mastani He was also a talented player of Instruments like Tabla and Violin not many people know he practiced Kathak almost 10 to 12 hours a day for almost 4 years he wrote 3000 thumaris and create beautiful bhav on them accept that he taught classical singing to number of singers with his brother Kalka Prasad he gave a number of Performance all over India and together as a pair they got name “Ram-Laksmana” after the death of Kalka Prasad he continued his journey with his son Acchan Maharaj, Lachchu Maharaj and Shambu Maharaj I would like to end this blog here this blog is a small tribute to dancing legend God Bless Him and rest in peace
