Riya had always been passionate about her career. Since childhood she had dreamt about being a doctor first, then an astronaut and finally she found her love for acting. Being born in an orthodox family Riya still had the courage to follow what her heart longed for. But she was aware that dreams can only turn into reality with the support of loved ones. As she grew up she realized that she is not as perfect as the actors on the screen. Being naïve she never knew what all goes behind the curtains to make the actors look so beautiful. She had never seen any of the female in the family applying anything onto their faces. But as she grew up she made friends, and learnt about lip gloss, kohl, blush and what not. Secretly she started applying them all until one day she got caught. The kohl from her eyes had not rubbed off clearly. But that day she was thrashed so badly that for the next few years she didn't even dare to apply anything on her face. Her family's concern was if by any means her skin gets ruined than who will marry her?
Days passed and she was in college now. The parents had to send her to college because what will they tell the society? Marrying off a girl at 17 was also not legal. And in college Riya finally tasted freedom. Though her college was in the same town but reaching college gave her wings. Initially she was nervous as being in the same classroom with boys was something new to her but she adjusted quickly. She also performed well in her exams. Then she even completed her post graduation. Though time was passing but the passion for being an actor was still burning in her heart. She decided to move to Delhi. But the question was how? Sending girls so far was an extremely big decision for her family. What if she starts having an affair there? What if she elopes with a boy? She was 22 and yet not married and above it she wanted to go to Delhi for some course, which they had no idea about. They spoke to some family members that lived in Delhi only. One of which was Riya's cousin who was married and had two kids. When speaking to her she told Riya's parents to not send her to Delhi. As Riya was a thin, meek girl so to support her statement she said “what will happen if any boy grabs her? She will not be able to rescue herself. Who is going to take a girl's responsibility? so don't send her. Instead get her married then whatever her husband will say she will do.”
Riya had not expected such comments from her cousin who herself had a daughter. But she had no other choice and finally her parents got her married. Her husband was supportive but homely duties took a toll on Riya's time and acting took a back seat. Then one day while Riya was busy with her chores she got a call from her mother. Riya never liked gossiping. She was never attached to her parents so honestly she had nothing to talk about every time her mother called. But this time her mother had something to tell her. The same cousin who in yester years had told Riya's parents to not send her to Delhi was in trouble. Her marriage was on the verge of breaking off. Her husband doubted her for having any extra marital affair. Things have piled up so much that her husband had started beating her until one day her husband tried strangling her and she had to run away to her mother's home with her two kids in the night itself. Hearing all this Riya wondered this cousin was the same person who was worried that what will happen if somebody will grope Riya. She will not be able to save herself, but what happened when this cousin's husband only did the same thing? She was a healthy, strong person. Was she able to save herself? Now who is going to take her responsibility?
