Who doesn't love one's country? It is our motherland, a part of our identity, our home, our roots. Love for motherland can not be inculcated in someone, it is something innate. Gradually when one starts understanding the words of National Anthem or National Song, one can not help but will get goosebumps. The pride that we have on our tri-colour can not have a match. Wherever we go, we will be Indians for our whole lives. But as we are progressing to celebrate the 75th Independence day of the country I feel there are things people need to talk about.
First topic being the safety of women: As a woman myself I fear going out alone, I fear boarding cabs, I fear posting my photos on social media, and what not. Newspapers are brimming with rape cases, abduction cases, actually all the worst things you can think about are happening to women. Neither a two month old nor a 60 years old is safe. And I wouldn't say that all men are the same but majority is. Though even men are not safe but the rate of crimes against women is much more than that of men. The gruesome acts you hear about daily kind of tear the heart out. This is the downfall of humanity.
Second topic is very sensitive yet important that is Religion. In schools we have studied that how India is a democratic republic. Unity in diversity, all festivals are celebrated the same way, all religions are equal but lately this is just limited to the education that you need to pass the examination. In our constitution it is clearly mentioned that we provide our citizens the liberty of thoughts, beliefs, expressions, faith and worship but again this has been limited to the text books. Because in reality we literally argue daily that whose religion is better. There is a huge competition to prove why one is above all. Though these people who are fighting may never have read there own holy books yet there is something inside them, maybe stupidity or may be they lack work to there is ongoing fight every time between religions.
The topics I spoke about are highly sensitive and I never want to hurt any sentiments. Truth has always been harsh. If you like this article then please let me know in the comments so that I can write about the rest of the points in the next article.
