if you're new to this blog do read my first blog “ My Long History With Writing”

Because that's where this journey really starts

2008, A 5th Grade kid in Chennai!

As this problem with my identity crisis was taking over, This was the time where i was figuring out the things that i was really good at and there was pretty much nothing apart from having this so called “outside the school book” General knowledge. Once my first story “Myth of the ghost” was over, I tried to find ways on how to make it into a real book or atleast make it a part of a bigger book and I still vividly remember that it was my uncle who helped me to  type out the whole thing. At that time he was around 29 years old and he was extremely busy as he was and still is an entrepreneur and was working his guts off to expand his business but still managed to spend time for my own little fantasy lol, I guess I shouldn't use the word managed but he “MADE” time for this 10 year old kid to help him type his story out. He had no reason to do it, he could've just brushed it off but he decided not to, Sat down with me, Used his computer and patiently listened to this kid's narration and typed the story. That's an extremely sweet man right there and a great life lesson too, that no matter how small or trivial someone's problem is from your point of perspective, it's still their problem, which means it can cause them pain, stress or whatever. So its better to be considerate and pay attention to it no matter how trivial it might seem for you. Just hear them out and do whatever you can, Especially when its from a young, naive person who is facing that problem and wants your help or attention. Anyway, This Sweet man helped me typed this whole thing out and i had the audacity to go to the school next day with my print out and gave it to my english teacher. Unfortunately my best friend who did half the work in the making of this story was absent. He was so frequently absent, even i would do that and the next day we'd react like as if we betrayed each other😆. My English teacher took the copy with her and gave her opinion on our story two days later. Which was really motivating and that helped me to write my next story

After this we wrote a couple of stories, one was named “Micheal” and another one after that which was incomplete and I'm unable to recall the name of that story. But anyway soon after this our half yearly exams came in the month of december and i guess i flunked in two exams, that's what i did most of the times in my quarterly and half-yearly exams, Flunk in two subjects. Either it was Math or Language or Math or Computer science. But i'd get above 90% in my favorite subjects like history, geography and science and 60% above in rest of the subjects. There were times where i'd top the class in history and geography but still wont have a rank as i would've failed in a subject that i don't like. So something similar happened during our half yearly exams, I flunked in two subjects and the pressure was on me to do well for my annual exams.

So writing stories was completely out for me and so the identity crisis took over, One could ask me at this point, then why wouldn't you just focus on your studies ? Wouldn't that have gotten you a good “identity”? ( I was asked this a lot back then) but you see i just wasn't interested in certain subjects because nobody told me what value they'd provide me in my life apart from marks. Yes ofcourse these top    5-10 rank holders were treated like prince and princesses and Last 5-10 rank holders weren't bothered much by both parents and teachers. These remaining rank holders inbetween were verbally butchered and i fell in that category😂. So these people dint make me understand why it was important to learn certain things which had no use in real life. I could never understand where I'd be using such crazy formulas.

And thus my thirst for having to be known for something continued and that's where i found this about myself. During interval breaks and lunch breaks we used to play some typical children's stuff you know, Like running and catching, Police and thief, Lock and key etc. Games which involved a Catcher and runners, this is where i figured out that i was good at these games because i was quick. I outperformed most of my friends, like 8/10. And after a few months of playing with them regularly nobody started chasing me knowing that it was hard to catch me and they started to run behind easy prey 😂

Very rarely did someone chased me down, when we played with boys from other sections. They were few ones who were as quick as me and sometimes they managed to catch me even. But this soon within the boys gave me a slight attention that this guy was good at running and it's from here a whole new dimension opened up for me. I was actually getting to be known for something and it felt good and  from here on I just started to focus more on my running and this simple childish games during intervals sowed seeds for what was to come for the next 7 years of my life.
