I declare to you that women must not depend upon the protection of man, but must be taught to protect herself, and there I take my stand
Feminism is a basic human rights movement in today’s world .Here is what the dictionary says that Feminism means: the advocacy of women’s rights on the grounds of political , social and economic equality to men. Feminism, who doesn’t love the age –old debate about removing the marginalization of half of the world’s population? Look Feminism has fought no wars. It has killed no opponents. Its battleshave been for education, for better working conditions, for safety on streets for women. If someone say, “oh, I am not a feminist, “I ask “why what's the problem in it?
One of the most prominent aspects of my identity is that I am a feminist . To me, it is not only a personal belief, but also a political fight. The Opponents come armed with arguments against feminism consisting of myths, misunderstandings, and misconstructions. And what sort of arguments: -
Where is the inequality? Men and women are already equal? “women and men are biologically different so how can they be equal?, “ why is it called feminism? Why not human-i equalism?
I ANSWER THEM the need to bring fem in it. Think once for whom are we advocating this , who was the one who has been discriminating against, who has been oppressed since centuries . The point of feminism is to give back women what they deserve, is to give back what they are deprived from centuries. Girls are often told that girls are not as imp as men ,girls pulled out from schools when they hit puberty because they were considered ready for marriage and babies at the age of 13 0r 14 can you realize this, we treat young women as “PARAYA DHAN” who are suppose to go to her husband’s family, it’s like a shift of the property from father to husband , even our law actually recognizes women like that ,have we all noticed that in your Id cards we either have fathers name or husband’s name . In every form that u fill from school to college to passport to the adhar card to everything but men don’t have to put their spouse name it’s not mandatory for them. ,I ask what is this patriarchal system that subjugates women, oppressed women that tells that women are not as imp as men. However the things are changing now .
It’s a critical to understand that ‘same’ does not mean “equal”. The issue here is about equal rights and equal access to opportunities. Men and women don’t have to be same in physicality to have the right to equality. The argument that women and men aren’t the same so they can’t be equal. I would love to see that argument disappear forever. I am concluding my words by inviting you to step forward, to be seen, and to ask yourself …..If not me then who? If not now then , when? Raise your voice any be the change.
