The Abduction Of Lisa Mcvey Review

We've all watched the different dramas based on true situations, but few will make you feel as many different things at once as Believe Me: The Abduction of Lisa McVey. This extraordinary true story, which is currently airing on Netflix, will make you scream as soon as it begins.

I won't say much more about the movie because I don't want to spoil anything. In terms of young girls' life, Lisa McVey received a terrible hand. She shared a home with her grandma and her partner when she was 17 years old. Their mother, a wholly unpleasant woman who ought to be locked up, shared a home with her sister. And if Lisa believed she had escaped that existence, she was sadly mistaken. Lisa's sole escape from her harsh upbringing was working in a donut bakery

That is, until she is kidnapped off the street one night as she cycles home. She is constantly assaulted and raped at the kidnapper's house, where she is facing probable death. However, she had acquired enough knowledge from dealing with her own abuser over the years to allow Lisa (Katie Douglas) to escape in a very brief window of opportunity. To say that the first 25 minutes of the film are harrowing to watch would be a gross understatement of the century.

When she goes to the police, who at first don't truly believe her, she finds relief from her anguish. They refer her to Sgt. Larry Pinkerton (David James Elliott) because they think the story is so absurd, and he immediately realises that she is speaking the truth. The sheer amount of information Lisa remembered for the story, though, is what truly amazes. And it is this that aids in the investigation and capture of the kidnapper by the police. Even if Believe Me has more content, it's best to just watch to see how extremely brave Lisa McVey was. There is redemption even though it is horrifying to the point of nearly being voyeuristic. The life of Lisa McVey is one of the most inspirational stories there is, and everyone should be aware of it.

it doesn't matter how many believe you, because all you need is that one person who really could make a difference, in this story Lisa had found one and what makes this movie special is Katie Douglas's acting skills, she does her characters so good
