Israel-palestine Conflict (History Till The Creation Of Israel)

It all started with the BALFOUR DECLARATION OF 1917 where the British promised the Jews an independent homeland in Palestine in return for their support against the Central powers and the Ottoman Empire in WWI. The Jews originally lived in Palestine and Jerusalem since ages, it was just that the British promised to give them recognition. On the other hand, the British exchanged letters with the Grand Sheriff of Mecca King Hussain saying that they would recognize Arab independence if the Arab revolted against the Ottoman Empire. The Jews helped the British with men and money (loans) in WWI and therefore Britain owed them something in return. The WWI ended when the Central Powers lost and the Ottoman Empire was disintegrated and partitioned. The land of Palestine fell under the British rule.

The British as promised first allowed large scale migration of Jews in Palestine. And hence, millions of Jewish people migrated to Palestine in a span of 10-15 years. In the year 1937 the British Peel Commission proposed to divide Palestine into two separate states, one Arab and one Jewish. The Palestinian Arabs didn't like this at all and they developed a sense of hatred towards the Jews. They treated them as intruders in Palestine. This caused large scale terrorism between the Jews and the Muslims (Palestinian Arabs).Till the year 1945, the population of Jews in Palestine kept on increasing as many more Jews migrated. Hitler's persecution on the Jews encouraged them to move to Palestine. The Arabs felt endangered but their protests did not receive any international support.

Due to their loss in WWII, the British had no strength left to deal with the conflict between  the Jews and the Arabs. They were literally weakened by the strain of second world war. Therefore, they approached the League of Nations to deal with it. In November 1947, the UN voted to divide Palestine, roughly making half out of it as Israel. The British withdrew all their troops even when the Arabs and the Palestinians were bitter towards each other. The British again left creating a huge dispute between both the races. The problem could have solved somehow but the British left abruptly. In the year 1948, on August 1 Ben Gurion declared the independence of the new state of Israel. The USA, USSR, Britain and other countries recognized the new state of Israel. But other countries like Egypt, Syria and Jordon attacked Israel the next day.
