In Gaslight, a young woman goes back to her childhood home to reconcile with her estranged father but discovers that he has vanished. The uninspired yet spooky mystery succeeds just enough to keep viewers interested until the very end.

Since she was a young child, before the accident that left Meesha unable to walk, Meesha (Sara Ali Khan) hasn't seen her father Ratan Singh Gaikwad. Before Ratan had a relationship with Rukmani (Chitrangda Singh), she lived a pleasant childhood in the family's ancestral palace. Meesha and her mother separated and moved elsewhere, but Mom never recovered and ended her life.

Years later, Meesha gets a letter from her father inviting her to see her family. When she arrives, Rukmani, who is now her father's wife, welcomes her.

In the movie Gaslight, a young woman returns to the house where she grew up hoping to make amends with her estranged father but finds that he has disappeared. Just enough of the unimaginative yet eerie mystery succeeds in holding viewers' attention till the very end.

Rukmani, who is now her father's wife, greets her as she arrives.With prior films like Phobia and Bhoot Police (both of which I really liked), Gaslight writer-director Pavan Kirpalani demonstrated his ability to spin a spooky tale. His most recent film, which has a terrific cast, leaves just enough questions unsolved to keep spectators interested throughout. Rahul Dev is effective in a little role as a police officer who turns out to be a more meticulous investigator than he first appears to be. Gaslight doesn't aim to be anything more than what it is, thus it would have been good if the character development had avoided reinforcing conventional class hierarchy.

Sara Ali Khan visits her estranged father at the royal family home after a 15-year absence only to discover that he has vanished. Only a small number of people might provide an explanation for why her father would have vanished. Will she be able to identify her father at last? Or will more information become available during the course of the movie? You'll have to watch the movie to find out, I guess.

Performing under the "Gaslight"

Vikrant Massey makes a completely forgettable first impression, leaving you to question why the hell he even agreed to be in this movie. But you don't really learn who he really is until the movie's climax.
