It was Sonit👦 and Varsha's👧 mother's birthday after 2 days.
Both wanted to give her a nice gift 🎁 and so they took out money from their piggy bank.
“I have taken out 92 rupees from my piggy bank,” Sonit said.
“And I have 88 rupees. That means we have a total of 180 rupees.”
“Yes, the necklace that we selected for mother costs 150 rupees. We will buy a nice card with the rest 30 rupees. Is that ok?”
“Surely, mother will be so happy to receive all this.”
The next day, when both came out to go to school, it was raining 🌧.
Mother warned, “Wear your raincoats🥼 and go out.”
Sonit work a blue and Varsha wore a green raincoat 🥼.
“Where have you kept all the money, Sonit?” Varsha asked.
"Don't worry, they are safe in the pocket of my raincoat.
“In the evening while returning from school we will buy the card and gift.”
Both reached the school by bus. There are some raincoats hanging outside the classroom. They also hung theirs.
In the evening both brother and sister wore their raincoats quickly and went to but a gift. Varsha got the selected necklace packed.
As Sonit dug his hand in the packet, he was shocked.
“Where has the money gone?” he asked.
“You yourself said that they were in the raincoat's poctet.”
“Yes, but now they are not there. Probably, somebody has picked my pocket.”
Varsha wondered, “Now what do we do? Look, you please give us the necklace and the card. We will get the money from father.”
“Sorry children, we do not give on credit. Pay the money and take the gift,” the salesman took the things back ruthlessly.
“Don't worry, Varsha. By tomorrow we will buy the gift somehow,” Sonit reassured.
“What will happen by tomorrow? Money deposited with such difficulty are all lost unfortunately.”
Both returned home. They were just getting off their raincoats when mother called, "Sonit son, your friend Kunal had called up from home. You have brought his raincoat by mistake as his raincoat too was blue in color.
“Go to his place immediately and change the raincoat.”
“How stupid I am,” Sonit was so excited to have found his raincoat.
“Yes, even I was wondering where did our money…”
“I will just go and bring my raincoat back,” interrupting her in between, Sonit got up quickly to go to his friend's house.
He found money in his raincoat and while returning he purchased the gift and card from the shop for mother.
Next day, getting up in the morning they wished their mother with the gift, “Happy Birthday, Mummy.”
Mother loved it. She took both her children in her arms and hugged them.
“The necklace seems very expensive. How did so much money come to you?” mother inquired.
“Don't ask anything, mother. It is a long story,” looking at Varsha and Sonit smiled.
