What's Good: Dhanush steals the show in this message-driven picture that manages to be straightforward, fascinating, and entertaining all at once.
What's Bad: The movie completely forgets the story it originally intended to present. That's what, then?

Bathroom Break: Dhanush uses his talent to prevent you from using the lavatory, and the second half of the story becomes compelling enough to prevent you.

If you're a fan of Dhanush, there's no good excuse not to watch. You can give the movie a go; it's a straightforward fun watch that also strives to impart knowledge.

English: Tamil (with subtitles in selected screens, mostly PVR).

Available on: Netflix Soon & At Local Theaters. The willingness of Tamil filmmakers to explore societal issues, even in films that are just comedies, is one of the most distinctive characteristics of their work. This is something that the industry has always done, and Venky Atluri's Vaathi (which was simultaneously released in Telugu as "Sir") is another example.

Director Venky Atluri's first Tamil film is titled Vaathi. Tholi Prema (2018), his Telugu debut, was a huge success. Vaathi, which also marks actor Dhanush's return to the action genre after two duds, has being eagerly anticipated (Maaran and Jagame Thandhiram).

Given that it is Dhanush's debut Telugu/Tamil bilingual film, "Vaathi" has received comparably less anticipation. The similar strategy was modified for "Thiruchitrambalam," which ended up being a surprise hit at the movie office. It is uncertain whether the same magic will occur again.

The first scene of "Vaathi" takes place in the present, as three college students find a collection of video cassettes featuring a master (Dhanush) explaining complex concepts to students in the 1990s. The Kadapa District collector (Venky Atluri) tells them the tale of Bala Sir, who inspired him and other students to do their best work, as a result of their quest for him. Bala (Dhanush), a school employee of Educationist Thirupathi (Samuthirakani), is given a task in the flashback.Overview Reviews CastSongs videos and clips behind-the-scenes video

In the past, we often heard that a teacher inspired pupils for the rest of their lives and gave their all to their students' futures. That was a special connection that would last a lifetime. The student would always extol and thank their teacher and mentor for shaping them in line with... This was useful to 34 more people.
