Today I am writing here for the first Sikh Guru Guru Nanak Dev Ji. Guru Nanak Dev ji was the founder of Sikhism. He was born on 15th April 1469. When he was born Hindus and Muslims were clashing frequently for the protection of their respective faiths. Guru Nanak Dev ji stood for Hindu-Muslim unity fusing together the fundamental and essential precepts of Hindusm and Islam. He founded a new religion which is called Sikhism. His birthplace was Sabo Talwandi which is 40 miles away from Lahor. Now day this place is located in Pakistan. Guru Nanak Dev ji belonged to Bedi caste of Hindu Khan. His father name is Mehta Kalu and he was employed as a patwari with the local Muslim Cheif, Rai Bhular. Guru ji's mother name is Mata Tripta and his elder sister name is Bibi Nanaki. She was his first disciple and Rai Bhular became his second disciple.
In his childhood, Guru Nanak Dev ji loved spending their time with religious people. In the age of 15 he was taught Punjab, Hindi, Persian and Sanskrit. He was very brilliant and quiet by nature. His parents wanted him to be in some trade or occupation but he devoted most of his spare time to meditation. One day his father gave him 20 Rs. to do some profitable business. he spent all the money on feeding the hungry men. He used to think about God for the hours together.
In the age of eighteen, he was married to Sulakshan Devi. Two sons named Laxmi Chan and Sri Chad were born to them. But even marriage could not stop him from thinking about God. He had no attachment to worldly life. His father sent him to Sultanpur Lodhi and Guru ji was made a government storekeeper b the Governor, Daulat Khan Lodhi. He was quite sincere in his work.
One day in the morning, he went to have a dip in the Bein, a small river near Sultanpur Lodhi. Then he returned after three days. By then, he had already determined to leave home and travel worldwide. Love and equality were the foundation of Sikhism. to propagate his religious views and understanding. Guru Nanak dev ji traveled to various places in India. The various places which guru Nanak dev toured have now become holy shrines for the Sikhs. On his many journeys, he was accompanied by the Mardana, a Muslim who sang on his rabab the hymns. During his course of journeys, he composed most of his hymns and Shabads.
In the age of 52, he settled in Kartarpur. There he rejoined his family. he continued to preach form there. Eventually, he breathed his last in 1539 A.D. merged into eternity. He was a great poet and Philosopher. He taught the unity of God and the brotherhood of man.
