In addition to putting him in the public eye, this victory guaranteed him a spot in the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) roster for the first Indian Premier League (IPL) season.
Getting Started in International Cricket :

He was appointed Test captain in December 2014 after Mahendra Singh Dhoni's departure from the competition. The Indian team has new life thanks to Kohli's combative and proactive style of leadership. India took on a more aggressive playing style under his direction, especially in Test cricket.
