Joseph Vijay Chandrasekhar was born on June 22, 1974, to playback singer Shoba Chandrasekhar and film producer and director Chandrasekhar. Vidhya Chandrasekhar, one of his sisters, passed away when she was just two years old. The life of Vidhya Chandrasekhar was portrayed in the movie Sukran. After that, Vijay attended Loyola College in Chennai to study visual communications, where he met fellow actors Surya Sivakumar, Yuvan Shankar Raja, Karthik Raja, and Vishnuvardhan.
On August 25, 1999, he wed Sangeetha Sornalingam, a Tamil woman from Sri Lanka. She was an ardent admirer of Vijay and expressed interest in getting married to him. A girl named Divya Saasha was born on September 9, 2005, in Chennai, and a son named Jason Sanjay was born on August 26, 2000, in London.

Career

In the drama, Vijay played his first role. He continued to act in kid-friendly films up till his father, S. A. Chandrasekhar, directed Ithu Engal Neethi. After making his acting debut in his father's 1992 film Naalaya Theerpu, Vijay later featured alongside Vijayakanth in the movie Sendhoorapandi. Vijay gained popularity in Tamil Nadu's rural interior thanks to this movie. He made his breakthrough in the Vikraman-directed movie Poove Unakkaga.

In the Prabhu Deva and Akshay Kumar-starring 2012 Bollywood flick Rowdy Rathore, he made a cordial cameo. Vijay has performed over thirty songs as a playback singer for his films, and in 2019 he will have been singing professionally for 25 years.

Leo, his latest film, is being directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, who has previously worked with Vijay. On October 19, 2023, it is expected to open in theatres all around the world.Anirudh created the soundtrack for the movie, his fourth time working with Vijay. Leo will be released in Kannada, Tamil, Hindi, and Telugu.In 2005, the commercially successful films Madhurey and Thirupaachi came after Ghilli. Later, Vijay played the lead role in the critically acclaimed and financially successful films Sachein, Sivakasi, and Pokkiri. At the time, Pokkiri had one of his highest box office performances.
