Things to know while taking paracetamol for fever.!!

1. When to give paracetamol medicine?

Those who have a thermometer at home can check the baby's temperature.  Paracetamol should also be given if the temperature is above 38.4 degrees Celsius/100.4 degrees Fahrenheit.

2. If given once, how often can the medicine be given?
Once administered, paracetamol may be administered at 6-hour intervals.  So it can be given up to four times a day.

3. Is syrup, pill or suppository better for fever?

Paracetamol can be given in any form for fever.  A suppository is equally good as a syrup.
4. What kind of children can suppository medicine be given?

It can be given in all conditions where it is difficult to take the medicine orally and in children who are reluctant.  For example, in continuous infusions, Jenny can be given to children who are coming, sedated, sleepy, post-operatively sedated.

5. Does suppository medicine reduce fever faster than syrup?

A suppository can be given to a child with a normal high fever if the fever does not go down despite the syrup.  There is a perception that it is better to taper off quickly.  But studies show that paracetamol maximum dose (15mg per kilogram per dose) whether suppository or syrup reduces fever equally.
6. How long will it take to reduce the fever if given medicine?

Even with paracetamol, it takes half an hour for the fever to subside.  This is the time it takes for the drug to enter the bloodstream and work.

7. How to calculate paracetamol dose?

The dose is based on the child's weight, not age.  How to calculate the dose of medicine.  (10-15 mg per kilogram per dose)

8. How many types of paracetamol syrup are there?

There are different strengths of syrup.
Paracetamol Drops 100mg/ml
Paracetamol Syrup 120mg/5ml -
Paracetamol Syrup 250mg/5ml

9. How to determine the dose? For example, how much dose is required for a 10 kg child?

The formula for calculating the dose is as follows

Dose for child is 10 to 15 mg per kg per dose.. 10- 15mg/kg/dose.
For a child weighing 10 kg

10 X 10 = 100mg (minimum dose)
10 X 15 = 150mg (maximum dose)
That means 1 to 1.5ml can be given to the child.

*If the syrup is 120mg/5ml, 1ml = 25mg dose is calculated as follows
10 X 10 = 100 mg= 4ml
15 X10 = 150 = 6ml
4 to 6 ml

Now if it is 250mg/5ml syrup
1ml-50mg----- 10 X 10 = 100 = 2ml
15 X 10 = 150 = 3ml
Two to three can be given at most.

10. Can the maximum dose of paracetamol be given to all children equally?

no  Paracetamol maximum dose (15mg/kilogram/dose) should not be given to children with liver disease, jaundice as well as high Liver Enzymes.  Paracetamol can be given in small doses for fever as per doctor's prescription.

11. Is paracetamol medicine for fever safe for breastfeeding mother?

Paracetamol is completely safe for breastfeeding mothers.  Useful not only for fever but also for pain.  Mothers with liver disease should take the medicine only as prescribed by the doctor.

12. Can paracetamol overdose harm the child?

Of course... Children often end up in the hospital after drinking medicine that is kept carelessly at home.  Paracetamol can reduce fever but overdose can be life-threatening.  If the fatal dose is a fatal dose, the drug should be given to the child immediately.  It will save the child's life.  Just washing the stomach doesn't matter.  Caution Even the slightest carelessness can lead to liver damage if fatal doses are taken.  Never leave the medicine unattended.  Also, do not re-administer the medicine that is left over once.

13. What are the symptoms of paracetamol overdose?

Watch out for these symptoms if a child overdoses on carelessly stored medicine.  In the first hour, symptoms of nausea and abdominal pain will appear.  Even liver damage can occure
