Hi friends,
I hope everyone is enjoying your weekend being safe and blogging. So, let's continue my experience in Singapore. As I mentioned in part 1, my hubby being a chef he had to work 12 hours a day, it was very difficult for him and we didn't get good quality time to spend with him. I stayed for one month in a room as I was waiting for my dependent pass. So that I can go anywhere, and even start working.
Singapore government always gives priority to the Singaporeans, if some people apply for a job, they will just scan if you are Singaporean, next if you are Permanent resident, then Employment pass, S pass, student pass, dependent pass, work permit based on these categories they will employ you.
Each employer has to pay a levy(tax) for employing a person. But, in the case of Singaporeans, Dependent pass holders, student pass holders, no need to pay any levy in such cases. So they will try to recruit based on that, not based on knowledge and qualification.
Some Indian employers who have permanent residency don't have a heart and they are inhuman they will just make you work like a dog and won't provide a good salary, accommodation. I have seen many work permit holders who have holidays will go to the temple on weekends so that they can have good meals. Yes, in Singapore many temples are there.
Whenever I went to grocery shopping, I see the price of Lettuce (keerai kattu) will be 4 dollars. Everything is very costly, you won't feel like doing shopping itself. Because whenever I see the price I will just calculate and convert it to rupees. 1 $ is equal to 54 rupees. Just calculate for 4 dollars lettuce. Is it possible to survive for a normal middle family? So, I started applying for a job and I didn't get any offers from a good software company. My husband knows someone who works in Mustafa shopping mall. It's a very big shopping mall which works 24 hours with mostly Tamilians working over there.
So I started working there as a cashier, my timings were from 8 PM to 8 AM. Everyone was the friendly staff and it was not difficult for me to adjust over there. Except for the AC, I will always wear a sweater.
In the next blog, I will share more which I felt good about about Singapore. So Kindly follow and continue reading my blogs.
Have a very happy weekend.
