Lockdown. This single word has created so much chaos in our lives. There are almost no vehicles on the road, the rate of pollution on the planet has decreased so much and yet, we don't like the situation at all. We appreciate the decision of the government and are supporting it too, but our lives have come to a halt. The economy of the country has been adversely affected. Our parents cannot go to work, we cannot go to schools or colleges, we cannot meet our friends. Phones, laptops and computers have become our companions now. But have you noticed the best thing admist all this? We have got a great opportunity to get closer to our families now.
We are locked at our homes with so much time and so much less work to do. And whom are we locked with? The most precious people of our lives- our family members. There is no doubt that everybody wishes to go out, roam around and enjoy, but when we cannot do that, we have the best time to know our family members better. We have the time to notice how a mother sacrifices the last piece of the cake that she had made and has eaten so little, for us, who have had enough already but are still craving for it. A father comes to our notice, who has been doing his best to provide all the necessities so that his family doesn't feel that the snacks or food is any less, even in this difficult situation . We can fight with our siblings as much as we want and laugh our hearts out together at the end of the day, and see the love behind their anger. We can play indoor games like chess, ludo, carrom, monopoly, cards etc and tease the member who loses and congratulate the member who wins. We can have a look at our and our parents' childhood photographs, laugh at some of them until our stomachs start hurting and adore some of them. We can listen to some stories of our grandparents' struggles. On some days, we can just watch some family movies and shows on television and other online platforms and discuss the ideas and opinions of every member on the plot. We can celebrate the quarantine birthdays and anniversaries of our loved ones with our near and dear ones.
"A family that eats together, stays together" is a famous saying and it is absolutely true. It is so because when you sit and eat together, you get to know the likes, dislikes, opinions and criticisms of your own family members. So try to spend as much time as you can because this time may not come back. You should know the people who love you dearly and try to learn all the positive qualities like time management, patience and loyalty. Take care of the people who won't ever betray and stand by your side when no one will because that's what family is.
