Success awaits for those who believe….

The real winners in life are those who strive unceasingly with a belief that they will succeed in reaching their goal one day. 

My dad was a sportsman and one of the best athletes while at school.  I always admired him and had a flaming desire to perform like how he did.  At the university level, when I did my running practice, he encouraged and taught me his own tactics of setting goals and living my dreams. It was finally time for me to run my first cross country race.  Dad proposed to me a few valuable guidelines while he dropped me at the starting point on his bicycle.  I had always dreamt of running a big race, but when I met a few well known runners at the starting point, I was nervous and unsure.  And when I heard that my dad had to leave me for another important assignment back home, I was devastated. But he encouraged me saying; “Living your dreams can be initiated only by believing in reaching your goals” He then touched my shoulder and said; “I believe, you can!”  Very soon he wished me success and headed on to home. 

The race began with a good start. Participants remained cool and stayed together as a group, retaining the same pace during the first few miles.  Gradually, the cluster began to stretch; each one progressing in their own stride length. As we covered one third of the distance, my energy level began to drop. When I reached the 5th mile, I got fully exhausted and found my way difficult to make another step forward. Although I touched the finishing line I was far behind, but was able to fulfil my task and said to myself; yes, I did it. And eventually, the occasion served me a sweet surprise to find my dad waiting there at the finishing point to receive me. He cancelled all his plans and rode his bicycle all the way to my destination to give me a surprise. He was indeed a great mentor all throughout my days.  And when I finish writing this blog my Dad is watching from Heaven, encouraging me to do well in whatever things I do in my life. 

It is always good to have someone as a mentor in your life who encourages you to see the flame inside yourself.
