Rangoli are always a warm and colorful welcome to the visitors.
All guests and visitors occupy a very special place and a rangoli is an expression of this warm hospitality.
This art is prevalent in all homes, rich and poor.
The origin of the art can be traced to the “PURANAS”.the tradition of Rangolu originated to maharashtra state and slowly disseminated to other parts of india.designs can be simple flowers or petals according to the festival and it also commercially developed in places like 5 star hotels.
Rangoli are usually made outside the threshold of the main entarnce after cleaning the area every morning. It is believed that a hindu household without rangloli and clean entrance is a bad luck
Traditionally the postured needed to make rangoli a king of exercise for women to straighten their spine.
This rangoli which i have uploaded is specially for sankranti i think the rangoli may not be perfect but tried alot to look beautiful during this pandemic this was my rangoli where i have attempted fifth time.Rangoli for me its twice a year one before new year and one in sankranti.
In south india new year night every house entrance will be colorful with beautiful designs a colorful way to welcome new year.Always before festival they decorate their home and entrance will be always beautiful and colorful.Rangoli makes you happy but after two days or one day its gone its fade away.
Kolan is the name given in some of the southern parts of india for rangoli.Kolan is regarded as some sort of painted prayer and in telugu they say it as muggu. It is drawn by using rice flour as per old age convention it is also drawn with chalk powder ot chalk.
Algorithms for drawing kolams are used in development of picture drawing computer software.A millions of household draw kolam or rangoli infront of their house during the break of dawn every morning before sunsrise while the surface is damp so the design will hold better the decoration was not the main purpose of rangoli rangoli were drawn in coarse rice flour so that ants would feed those as a tradition in olden days.
But now a days they use chalk or white powder to draw rangoli.text messeges welcome or happy new year can be used in rangoli…as you can see its an art to convey messeges also.
Even paints are also used in rangoli so it will be permanent.
