Sometimes we focus more on our physical well-being and give the least importance to mental health. Both these are two sides of the coin, In fact, If your mental health is not stable you may end up miserable. An individual with good mental health finds peace and he/she will turn his or her hardships into triumph!
WHO explains mental health as a state of well-being in which the individual realizes his or her own abilities, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to his or her community.
Well, when you feel stressed or depressed and you can't handle it by yourself it means your mental health is affected, and to restore it, you need to put in some effort. For example, if you feel aloof because you lost your dear one and you are not able to manage the grief, you should talk to your friends or if required visit a therapist. Several sessions of talk would gain you back your mental health. They could help you to develop coping strategies that help you to retain good mental health.
Ventilating your thoughts is an important aspect of mental health. You may have seen people burying all their sorrows deep within themselves but this could not be considered a healthy attitude because sometimes you may lose control of it. Not always, but there are chances where you may not tackle the problem. You may not feel the need to share your worries with others, who might be able to help you. This is because you are comfortable dealing with your problems all by yourself but, imagine a handful of people willing to help you because they know that you are in pain and you don't share it with them.
It is quite disappointing to your friends too. If you don't ventilate, you may keep dumping all your negative thoughts into your inner self, allowing yourself to fall into depression. When you share, you get the care and ultimately it eases your pain.
The only aspect I am focussing here is to share your thought, pain, guilt, anger, or sorrow with someone close to you to experience relief. I have had several mental breakdowns because I wasn't open to the people who really cared about me but now I understand the worth of this practice. This helps you to remain relaxed and to develop positive mental health.
I believe you found this blog useful. Share this if you know someone going through pain and be with them.
