[The Nemesis] Episode 2: Why Me?

“Hello?”

“I want to talk to the Military Police Officer On duty, immediately!”

“You are talking to him, speak up.”

“We found one of yours's dead."

I turned around, closed the window shut, leaving the entire room dark. I sat in my chair and continued.

“One of mine? How?”

“A Soldier, Motel, in Town. He died of a heart attack.”

“Are you sure of the heart attack?”

“Pretty sure. I have seen a lot of them”

“Alright, Call the Headquarters.”

I put the phone back in its place and leaned back in my chair with my legs on the table."A dead soldier? Trained combat soldier is fitter than the population. But they also smoke and drink...eat worse and stress much. their life expectancy is average to some extends." I Massaged my temples and relaxed for some time.

It didn't last long. A call disturbed my nap. I sit back up straight and picked up the phone. It was The D.C, Colonel Leon Garber.

“Cohen here”

“Someone just called you about a dead soldier? In the motel.”

“Yes, about 10 mins ago. I rubbed the matter onto the HeadQuarters.”

“And they rubbed it onto me. I had to come out of a party just cause of this, I am assigning you this. Go there and look into this.”

“Why? Anyone else can also do it.”

“We are talking about a 2 star general here.”

“And no one else can do it, no one is that Sober to go on a task. I am trusting you with this. I transferred you here for something."

the phone went quiet for a few seconds.

Alright, fine.”

the phone hung up.

I figured out that a presence there needs some Class A Greens and not some BDU's.

I called the officer again and got the address of the motel. I took the Humvee from the garage and drove to the motel.

I reached there in an hour. I got out of the humvee and walked near the Officer with the cap held between my upper arms and the side chest.

I caught up with the officer and we went inside the Motel room. It was at the very last end; the door was open with yellow light peeping through the half-open door. It was clearly visible, as the whole corridor was dark. We could hear music in the corridor from the club on the other side of the motel.

I walked inside the room and saw a naked body lying on the bed on its stomach.

                                            TO BE CONTINUED
