INTRODUCTION:

A common theme among the characters, activities, and visuals in a film may become apparent to you as you watch it. The way these components come together can define the genre or style of the movie. You can more effectively imagine your story and establish a connection with your audience by researching the various genres and styles that filmmakers employ in movies. The style of the movie is frequently attributed to the director's attempt to convey a mood or represent the story. They have the power to influence how viewers see the movie and help them identify key plot points. Similar tactics are used by common cinema genres, which can aid in style identification.

DOCUMENTARY:

Documentary filmmaking aims to preserve a historical record, educate, or inform viewers by presenting a true portrayal of reality. In these movies, the camera frequently takes on the role of a passive witness and seems to respond to what is happening on screen. Two common camera methods used in this genre of filmmaking are observational and handheld. These often have a strong improvisational connection and can evoke sensations of spontaneity in the listener.

THRILLER:

It's time to investigate the thriller film genre now. Before this kind of picture became a favorite among moviegoers, its popularity grew gradually. The rise in popularity of the movie genre during the 1960s and 1970s coincided with a notable development in spy novels.

It is possible to use the thriller genre to draw attention to the shortcomings of institutions, governments, and society at large. After then, the audience gets to witness the hero make amends, which makes this genre of movies pleasant and entertaining.

This genre of movies has so many instances. The James Bond films, The Silence of the Lambs, and Misery, for instance, are examples of thrillers. Numerous film subgenres, including the crime movie genre, have been inspired by the thriller genre.

ACTION:

Excitation is the hallmark of the action genre; consider thrilling chases, spectacular stunts, and suspenseful peril. In this field, action-packed scenes are what make movies stand out, and they frequently go into subgenres like martial arts or military adventures.

Action movies, which are renowned for having large budgets, are known for their spectacular explosions and sophisticated stunts. Known for blockbusters like "Terminator," directors like Michael Bay, John Woo, Michael Mann, and Kathryn Bigelow have all mastered this exciting genre.

There is always more to discover in action movies because to its numerous subgenres and hybrids, each of which offers a distinct taste of heart-pounding thrills. The action genre keeps developing, enthralling viewers with its dynamic fusion of spectacle and narrative.

HORROR:

Numerous horror classics have been made since the advent of experimental film, thanks to the impact of German Expressionism and Surrealism.

Hollywood quickly seized control with iconic films like The Birds and Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho. Back then, horror films were characterized by a generalized terror that could be psychotic, delusional, or just plain scary. Similar to David Lynch's Eraserhead, which is frightening enough to give you the chills even if it doesn't have a supernatural plot.

Subsequently, more supernatural aspects began to be used. Classics like Stanley Kubrick's The Shining and John Carpenter's The Thing were examples of this. Eventually, supernaturalism began to influence a significant amount of the plot in horror films. As a result, this gave rise to numerous contemporary horror franchises, such as the hugely successful The Insidious series, the Conjuring Universe, etc.

A few traits that set the horror genre apart could be that it emphasizes action over dialogue, builds tension, and chills more when suspense builds. In horror films, the tension builds steadily as the story moves forward.

ROMANCE:

Close relationships are what constitute the romance genre. These films occasionally take a darker turn, but the main focus is on the inherent tension that results from the need for closeness and affection.

1.Dramatic Romance
The struggle that arises from a romantic relationship defines the romance-drama subgenre. The origin of the drama as well as the goals and motives that shape each character's viewpoint distinguish a romance-drama from a romantic-thriller. For example, Blue Valentine (2010) and Revolutionary Road (2008).

2.Thriller Romance
A gripping narrative featuring and most likely centered around a romantic relationship characterizes the romance-thriller subgenre. Most romantic thrillers center on the lovers trying to escape circumstances so they may be together, but others can veer into psychological thrillers where the connection is used as leverage.
Example: Unfaithful (2002), The Saint (1997).

3.Periods Romance:

The setting of a period-romance narrative defines it, and it can integrate other subgenres of romance literature. The location must be a historical era, and most of the time it will follow the social mores of that era, however some films have adopted a more revisionist stance.
such as Jane Eyre (2011) and Pride & Prejudice (2005)

CONCLUSION:

The most difficult task, however, is figuring out the ideal formula for a successful film. There is no surefire method or strategy for this; it will always be difficult to figure out, thus a risk must be taken. When these components are used in the proper order, movies become engaging and draw audiences in droves.

When watching a movie, exercise detective and analytical skills to avoid missing too much a lot goes into it, and you can determine whether the elements are used correctly.
