Why A Youtuber Should Not Do 'Sub To Sub' To Gain Subscribers?

Does 'Sub for Sub' on YouTube actually work? This question has a clear 'NO' answer. Unfortunately many think that it is a good idea and by doing this, they put their Youtube career in trouble.

An aspiring YouTuber's first aim on Youtube will be to gather subscribers. To achieve this, most of the new YouTubers uses a method called sub to sub (which means subscribe to subscribe). In any of the social media groups of YouTubers, we can easily spot "sub to sub" calls? 'If you subscribe to my Youtube channel, I will subscribe to yours'. Please do not try this method because it is neither reliable nor effective and it can harm your YouTube channel as well. Not only that, by doing it, you are violating the terms of service according to the Fake engagement policy of Youtube. We could be subject to a Terms of Use strike, or even have their channel may get terminated by doing so.

This fake method of getting subscribers on YouTube will result in a subscriber who has no interest in your content. Possibly, they will just click your video and close it without watching. Your content will seem unwatchable to the YouTube algorithm, making youtube not suggest it. By not suggesting, you will not gain any watch hours, which is very important for your success as a new YouTuber. Similarly, when you post a new video, these subscribers will be among the first to find out and the same thing will happen.

Never think that you can play tricks with Youtube. Unless you improve engagement, the algorithm will bury your channel very fast. You can't grow your YouTube channel even if you have 100,000 subscribers and only 10 of them watch your videos, that too occasionally.

Someone may argue that 'a Youtuber need 1000 subscribers to get your channel monetised and Sub to sub will help this cause'. But remember that 1000 subscribers alone will not get a channel monetised. Channel need to have 4000 valid public watch hours in the last 12 months too to reach that goal.

It's a fact that you will be successful on Youtube only if you put good content which your viewers love, that that too consistently. That is the way to do it.  You need to work hard to achieve something. There are no other shortcuts to be a winner on Youtube. So, don't try to gain subscribers using this or any similar fake method.
