The phrase "glow up" has become widely used lately, especially on online platforms. The idea of glowing up is more than just about looking better; it includes enhancements in mental, emotional, and social aspects too. It describes a significant change in someone's looks, health, and general happiness. This change is usually noticeable through higher self-assurance, better physical condition, and a more optimistic view of life.

Here are some tips for stepping into your best version, so pick up a note and a pen.

1.Mental health

A mental glow up can make you happier, less stressed, and generally improve your mental well-being. It is important to develop a peaceful mind and a grateful heart. Do things that help you stay in the moment and have things that makes you want to wake up in the morning. Walk like you own the street, heads up.

  • Meditate: Take a few minutes every day to meditate to lower stress and get to know yourself better, like in the movie “Eat pray love”.
  • Positive Self-Talk: Say nice things to yourself to change your thinking and feel better about yourself.
  • Keeping a Gratitude Diary: Take a moment every day to think about and be thankful for the good things in your life.

"True beauty is about who you are as a human being, your principles, your moral compass." — Ellen DeGeneres

2. Skincare

Having a regular skincare routine helps keeping your skin healthy and looking good. A good skincare also helps you feel better about yourself and your health.

  • Cleanse twice a day.
  • Exfoliate every 2-3 times a week.
  •  Use a good moisturizer.
  • Apply sunscreen everyday.
  • Use special serums or treatments for acne, dark spots.

3. Haircare

  • Use shampoo and conditioner that's for your hair type. Browse “how many times use shampoo in a week”, and follow a schedule that is right for you.
  • Trim hair every 6-8 weeks to get rid of split ends

4. Grooming

  • Nail Care: Make sure your nails are clean and cut regularly. And a little nail paint, now and then, as a form of self-expression and just for fun.
  • Oral Hygiene: Brush and floss every day. And you can clean your tongue when needed.
  • Eyebrows: Keep your eyebrows neat and tidy. But that is totally optional cause your eyebrows are fine, it's just the beauty standards that are wrong.
  • Put on outfits that make you feel good and cozy, get reference from the pinterest girlies.
  • Throw on some cool accessories like jewelry, scarves, or belts to spice up your look.
  • Spend some money on some essential items that look great and can be worn in many ways.

5.Add to your routine

  • Eat healthy and at the right time.
  • Try to get at least 30 minutes of exercise most days.
  •  Add some strength training to make your muscles look better.
  • Do some stretching or yoga to keep your body flexible.
  • Get 7-9 hours of sleep every night.

6. Setting the stage for your best version

Surround yourself with people who lift you up and see the good in you. If you are unable to find them, learn to be comfortable alone, while also not isolating yourself. Run away from the toxic ones, like you run from the work you have to do.

Improve your talking and social skills, by placing an order through phone, checking prices of places to stay for a trip that is not even happening. Say no to social anxiety, because it restricts you in levels you don't even know exists. What would I do if i had no fear? Do that.

Toughen up, big guy, I need you right now *sharp breathe out*

I can do this. (hands should be positioned like a boxer about to punch,  mandatory)

Make a list of what you want to achieve in your life and break them down into smaller and do-able tasks. Don't overwhelm yourself and do not doubt your abilities, you are capable of doing anything you put your mind into.

Never give up and never WHAT?

never back down.

Finally make right choices mindfully, for instance, choosing to eat healthy instead of eating junk. Rethink and choose what's best for your future self.

6. Find new hobbies

Keep your brain sharp by reading books, taking classes, or doing activities that make you think. People consider self help books to be cliche, but as someone who started reading, you should read anything that interests you. Don't just buy books about financial growth and productivity. Read for fun, like poetry or fantasy.

Make time for things that make you happy and boost your self-esteem.

Learn crochet from the internet strangers, especially the girls out there. You could use pinterest, it has a lot of crochet patterns for beginners and pros too.

Watch movies like Little women and pretend to be a writer. Sob and feel the pain of love from La La Land and Amazing Spider-man 2. You could also pretend to be spider-man, cause no one has ever seen you and spider-man in a room together.

Reinvent the things you did as a kid, because those are things that you care about the most, for me it was hand stitching clothes for my barbie with my next door bestfriend. Do things that will heal your inner child.

Learn to parent yourself. Treat yourself like your own daughter/son, shower yourself with the love you would show them. And answer me, would you let them scroll their phone for 8 hours a day? I thought so, restrict your screen time.

While also following your strict glow up  routines remember to be compassionate towards yourself.

Now, go ahead and rock the world, you do not need any fixing.
