Volcanoes!!! Explosion of fire from mountains could be beautiful and dangerous at same time.We believe that our body is made up of five elements ( Pancha Tatva) and fire is one of them.No wonder we easily get attracted to any element we see in outer world. So in this blog, we will be gaining some interesting facts about volcano, which is somehow related to fire.

The origin of volcano has an interesting story. The ancient Greeks believed that volcanic eruptions happens when Vulcan, The God of the Underworld,  keeps his subterranean furnace beneath Volcano, a small volcanic island in  Sicily(Italy) ,from which the world volcano is formed .According to volcanologists the activity is associated with the land disturbance, where zones of weakness are due to deep faulting and mountain folding.

As temperature increases with increasing depth, interior of the earth becomes more dense with solid, liquid and gaseous material  termed as “Magma”. The gases and vapour increases the activity of the lavas which are emitted through the orifice or vent of a volcano during volcanic eruption.

Magma -Solid ,Liquid and Gases beneath the earth

There are two main types of lavas -:

1.Basic Lavas -:

These are hottest lavas about 1000^0 C and highly fluid. They are dark in coloured like basalt, rich in iron and magnesium but poor in silica. They flow quickly and not very explosive. Due to high fluidity, they flow with a speed of 10 to 30 miles per hour affecting large area with thin sheet over greater distance before solidification. After solidification, it form structure like shield and dome.

2.Acidic lavas-:

These lavas are highly viscous with a high melting point. They are light in coloured of low density and have a high percentage of silica. They slowly and seldom travel before solidification forming cone shape. They are explosive in nature and throws bombs and dark clouds during explosion.

There are 3 types of volcanoes-:

1.Active -:when they frequently eruption or at least eruption in recent time.

2. Dormant-: Whose who are know for eruption or has possibility of future                               eruption.

 3. Extinct -: If the volcano has not erupted at all in historic times but has all                           features of volcanic eruptions.

These are some most disastrous eruptions in the history of mankind -:

1.Mount Vesuvius (Italy) -:

Mt. Vesuvius of Naples, erupted violently on 24 August 79 A.D affected people living around and two neighbor cities Pompii and Herculaneum.entire population of two cities were buried alive during this eruption.

Then in 1631, lava comprised of debris and gases ruined 15 town nearby and killed 4,000 inhabitant.

2.Mount Krakatau-:

It is a volcano island situated in middle of Java and Sumatra. In august 1883, dense black clouds of ashes shot 20 to 50 mails high , and were brought down as mud by terrential rain which fell over the which fall over other islands. Even tought no onw was killed by lava flow , vibration set by enormous waves over 100 feet high drowned 36,000 people in the coastal Indonesia.

3.Mount Pelee-:

The eruption of Mt. Pelee of the West Indies in May 1902 was the catastrophic of modern times. It erupted while- hot lava and super heated steam destroyed St. Pierre city and killed 30,000 inhabitants  except two people.
