Dune ( Movie Review)- Part 1

This lock down made me hardcore Cinephile. I started enjoying cinemas from all around the world irrespective of language. I came to know about directors across the globe such as Steven Spielberg, Martin Scorsese, Christopher  Nolan, Bong joon ho, Andrei Tarkovski, Denis Vellenueve, Akira Kurosawa, Majid Majidi, Cloe Zhao, Greta Gerwig, David Fincher, David Lynch, Stanly Kubrik,Alfred Hitchcock, James Cameron, Wes Anderson. Paul Thomas Anderson  and many more directors.

I knew for while that film of Director Denis Villeneuve  β€˜Dune’ is set to release on 22nd of October in our country. After watching trailer for first time I wasn't sure whether it really deserve theater watch. Reviews from Instagram and newspapers were expressing position opinion for film. On 31 October, one of my favorite film YouTube channel posted review of the same and suggested to go for silver screen experience rather than relying on OTT or piracy release. Actually this movie is been already uploaded on free website before official release but I didn't feel to watch it.

I started thinking of watching movie in nearby theater. To attract audience, theater ticket price was dropped around 50% during November beginning. I asked my cousins to join me but they had some previous commitments so I almost cancelled the plan.

on 1st November, around 5.30 I just checked tickets on  book my show. Price was same. I made my mind and almost ran towards theater. I reached there 15 min before the show. Hardly 10-15 people were their and I had whole empty row. If I wished, I could have able to watch it while sleeping. Two boys where sitting behind me. Something came from back row on 3-4 seats away from me after movie started. At first instance I thought they are shooting the film, them I saw they kept their feet on middle space between two seats and relaxing.

This movie is based on book of same name. Published in 1965 written by Frank Herbert is considered as bible of the scientific fiction genre books. Sci-Fi movies like start trek series , star war series is heavily influenced by this book. Renowned director David Lynch had made a failed attempt to make movie based on dune in 1984 .So everyone's eyes were on this film and how this fantastic book is going to get execution by Denis Villeneuve. Indeed this film did full justice to original plot of the book.
