Another Earth - a planet modeled after our Earth - has been discovered very, very far away from our Earth.
Our earth revolves around the sun (the sun is a star). An Earth-like planet that has just been discovered orbits a star. One may ask what is the wonder of such a planet being discovered.
There are many stars in space beyond the solar system. It has long been suggested that such stars may have planets similar to those in the Solar System. But finding those planets has long been problematic.
But NASA's Kepler telescope tried to find those planets using a new method. About 1000 planets have been discovered in the last few years by exploring space in this way. But all these are spheres covered with ice.
Apart from this, all the discovered planets (ice balls) are as big as or larger than our planet Jupiter (Jupiter is 1400 times bigger than Earth).
Scientists were looking for a planet like Earth. What is Earth Model? If it is near the sun, it will get hot. If it is too far from the sun, it will not get enough heat and everything will freeze and become ice. Otherwise the earth is at the right distance.
So the Earth model means that a planet should be at the optimal distance from its star. There should be an air zone. There should be water. Should be almost Earth size. After a long search, an Earth-like planet has just been discovered.
The planet that scientists have discovered is slightly larger than Earth. That means a 60 percent ratio is huge. The star it orbits is slightly larger than our Sun. So there is a possibility of getting enough heat for the said planet.
The newly discovered planet is slightly more distant than our Earth from the Sun (15 million km). It is likely that the planet is made of stone, soil, and rock like Earth. There is an air zone. There are also volcanoes.
It takes 365 days for Earth to complete one revolution around the Sun. Another Earth discovered now takes 385 days to orbit its star once. Earth is 450 million years old.
