10 Facts You Didn't Know About Your Skin.

You may think you know a lot about taking care of your skin, but how much do you actually know about this organ? We're going to shock you today with some skin-related facts you may not have known before. A portion of this data will genuinely take you by surprise!

1. It is your body's largest organ. Your skin is 22 square feet, far larger than your liver, which is your second largest organ.

2. At 20, you begin to age. We have terrible news if you think that being in your 40s or 50s is the equivalent of getting older. Your collagen levels may begin to gradually decline beyond the age of 25, which could lead to the development of fine wrinkles and drooping skin. Vitamin C and other antioxidants can support the maintenance of youthful, healthy-looking skin.

3. Sleeping could cause wrinkles to appear. You should sleep since it aids in the healing and rebuilding of your body. Nonetheless, sleeping on your stomach or side may put pressure on your face, which can exacerbate the look of wrinkles.

4. There are three layers to your skin. We often refer to the skin as though it is composed of just one layer, but in reality, there are three: the epidermis, dermis, and hypodermis.

5. Skin controls body temperature Your skin's blood supply allows it to control temperature. Your skin loses heat when your blood vessels dilate; heat is retained when your blood vessels constrict.

6. Your skin may develop dark spots. Wearing broad-spectrum SPF 15 or higher sunscreen starting in your teens and 20s is crucial. Sun spots can appear on your skin quickly and become more difficult to remove as you get more sun exposure.

7. Every minute, we lose thousands of skin cells. Wow, that's an amazing 30,000 to 40,000 per minute!

 8. The thickness of your skin varies. The skin on your feet is thickest on the palms and soles, and thinnest on your eyelids.

 9. You are able to change your skin tone. Things like hormonal imbalance, age, and climate change can cause your skin to change type, even if you've always had the same type.

10. How your skin ages is not determined by your genetics Many people believe that their accelerated skin ageing is genetic, but in reality, environmental factors are a major contributor to skin ageing. Nearly 90% of premature ageing can be attributed to sun exposure, and other factors like smoking and pollution can also affect how quickly your skin ages.
