Revisiting Thanmathra

Whenever I see a post on this movie it will hook on me for a couple of days ..Most people says a no to its rewatch because of the intense Lal magic and the realistic emotional atmosphere that Blessy creates. But after every hook up of this movie, I revisit the scenes ..the characters and feels an urge to watch the movie. It may be a thirst to experience the masterpieces again and again as it happens once in a lifetime. Getting emotional by seeing the favourite flick and performances is another level of satisfaction. But still it remains a pain in the heart as for all of us Rameshan Nair was not just a character, he was a man close to us in the first half connecting to any of our closest people who we care for.

The flow of life is always hinged with the trigger of memory. The reminiscence of past is always a benchmark for our ongoing meetups with the people and situations. What we fear to loose most is our closer ones. When a physical loss makes a single side void, the loss of memory makes a double sided void both for us and for our dear ones. Just think for a second, forgetting who makes you more afraid. The depth of fear of forgetting a person marks their depth to you.

Deep knowledge and a loving heart, that was Rameshan Nair. The emptiness created by the forgetfulness is also stuck inside him.. Even a light moment of memory about the loved ones he is forgetting hurts him..and those around him. There are few people who are so dear to him that they want him to come back, who keep him together even when the memories are falling apart. They formed around him a reserve made of molecules of bonds.

Father and son relationship of three generations.. Rameshan Nair who has lost his memory, his father and son look after him like a small child. It is the dream of Nedumudi Venu, who wanted his own son to become an IAS officer, and Rameshan Nair wanted to fulfill his son's dream. A dream of three generations. The molecule that binds it- Rameshan Nair. The character of Nedumudi Venu, who takes up the dream of his own son when it has been forgotten for years, loses his strength at one point and gives up his desire for civil service to look after his father.
The movie is also a recollection to the classic performance done by my all time favourite Mohanlal and revisiting it everytime assures my faith in his comeback; As it says Form is temporary but Class is permanent. If vintage has a face it's him and we all enjoy those evocations..enjoy all those classic performances.
