Surprising Facts About Crows Which We Never Knew

In our daily life we see many birds but the common bird we see everywhere is a crow. We can find it anywhere all over the world except Antarctica.These crows have some intresting facts which we will see in this blog may surprise you.
- Normally the group of birds is called as flock and Crows also live in groups but that group is called as murder. How strange it is. There are different explanations for the origin of this term.
- Crows first appeared 17 million years ago.
- Crows are one of the smartest birds. They operate like a seven year old child level.
- When compared to their bodies crows relatively have larger brains.They have a long term memory including facial recognition and they also understand analogy.
- These smart crows can recognise your face. They also have the ability to hold the grudge upto two years. So If anyone mistreats them they will remember and teach their brothers and sisters to dislike them.
- After growing up crows leave their parents from the nest. But these crazy animals visit their parents after many years to see them.
- Crows use language to communicate. It is very complex. They communicate in a multiple distinct calls. Other than their common noise they emit number of different sounds with different messages.
- They have different warning calls for cats,hawks and humans.
- Some crows can read traffic lights.
- Crows are so intelligent that they can make and use tools for food.
- In order to raise new born chicks, parent crows get help from older crows(siblings of new born chicks)
- Crows hide their food away and save it for later. They have good memory to remember where the food was kept.
- They maintain only one mate for their entire life.
- In Japan some crows use metal wires to make nest on electric wires. This causes short circuit and results in Blackouts.
- Crows do funerals for their dead crows and they look out for the source of danger. If there is any threat in that place they avoid to go there in future.
- Crows steal food from other animals. In order to steal food they distract them by pulling their tails.
- If we show kindness towards crows they return us with little gifts. This was proved when eight year old girl feed the crows with food and water, in return the crows gifted her with screws, buttons, clips etc.
