Hello friends, recently I attended an off-campus interview for the first time. Even though on-campus placements are happening, I have begun exploring off-campus opportunities as well.
We came to know about the opening through our placement in-charge staff, and we applied and got shortlisted to attend the first round. While a few of my friends did not get shortlisted, others planned to avoid this interview and decided to enjoy the holiday weekend.
I decided to attend just to know what’s happening there and, in case we fail to get placed during the on-campus hiring process, how hard we should try and prepare to secure a job.
Nobody came with me, so I needed to plan the transportation because that company is far from my home—it’s nearly 75–80 km. So, I asked my brother for a suggestion, and he told me to stay at his home. He said that he would drop me in the morning, since it’s easier to travel by two-wheeler instead of public transport.
The day before the interview, I went to my brother’s house in the evening and I started preparing for the basic questions from the topics mentioned in the mail.
Then my brother went to pickup his wife from office and came back with chicken fried rice for our dinner. We ate together by watching travel vlogs. It felt like I went to my brother's home for spending my holiday and then I get the spark back to prepare and then went to sleep at 10:30 pm.
I woke up at 5:30 am, and my brother told me to trim my moustache and beard, I don't know why he told me that because it's just my first round which consist of MCQ test only but not like HR interview or technical interview round, nobody care that We exist only our registration ID and photo verification is enough to enter that company.
Then after my first round, I called my brother and thank him for support me to reach the place in time and told him that out of 40 questions, I know only 23-27 questions and others are I never discussed before.
But my brother told me that, you don't want to got shortlisted in all the interview you attend and what you learned and being aware of what are the topics you should work more is important so its nothing to lose, and shared a quote, “Every fall is a lesson and Every rise is a victory”
I smiled and travel back to home for two hours by government bus, listening to songs that I recently noticed in reels.
I hope I will share more blogs in upcoming days.
