Sincere Advice To The "Prospective Speakers" -: ( Part- 1 )

Someone has said about America that--

"A land of lakes and beaches

                         of weather untold

                         &  bandits bold

                         &  after-dinner  speeches".

But why is America alone known for the after-dinner speeches ? We  are addicted indeed all habitual in every country to make speeches, whatever the occasion is, we must make a speech on every possible occasion, whenever a few of us assemble or get together-after dinner, before dinner, in a business meeting, birthday celebration, marriage party and even at a funeral or a condolence meeting. What being the case, the important question is what is to be said when one is called upon to make a few remarks or to say a few words? some bold people may say, “what is there in making a speech? Just stand on your feet and think out aloud, and   there you would have made a speech”. But do you think it is so easy to make a speech befitting the occasion? That may be good advice for one who expects to be called upon rightly for the rest of his life, in this case, doubtless, he would grow proficient through practice. but, you would agree that there are many of us who would care to go through the initial period of groping for adequate or appropriate words while facing an audience. his belief to the extent of inspiration of the moment for some thing to say, is likely to disappoint both himself and his friends.

There  may be some persons, who are naturally clever, witty and possess a treasure of knowledge and they acquire the art of presenting their thoughts in appropriate words. But the average man or a woman does not have advantage and for him or her a certain amount of preparation is necessary to crystalize his thoughts and relieves the embarrassment of himself as well as others. Usually, the speaker is told in advance that he will be asked to make a few remarks. if he wishes to do credit himself, these remarks should be formally prepared not necessarily written out and memorized but at least fully outlined in his mind. let a few persons of extra - ordinary talent keep aside most of the good speeches are prepared and well thought out in advance. you must have noticed, while seeing and hearing great personalities on the  T.V. (Television)  that the speeches are well prepared before hand and even written, lest the speaker should tumble utter a wrong word or make any mistake of facts or policy. The principal of our college once remarked, “If you want me to speak for 15 minutes, plz give me a months notice ; if you want me to speak for half an hour , I need a weeks notice. and if you want me to speak for an hour or more , I need no notice." It may look paradoxical or even ridiculous to some of us , but it is a fact that a short speech has to be very systematic in which the thoughts and ideas are to be so arranged that the speaker may be able to express him self in a satisfactory manner . Short and sweet speeches are by far supposed to be the best one .
