Society Or Handcuffs?

We live in a country where we have  heard the line “What will others think?” , atleast once in our lives. Let it be from our parents, friends or relatives. But have we ever wondered how many times we might have asked this question to ourselves before taking a decision. Most of us do that before taking any important decisions maybe because of the forthcoming traumatizing embarassment that we don't have the guts to face or the fear of isolation from the society as such. I can't help but wonder… what if people had just shut their mouths and went on minding their own business instead of meddling in other's lives just out of joblessness. Why are we giving so much control over our decisions to people who really don't even matter in that circumstance? Afterall it's our life and we got to live it. I still personally know a couple of people leading unhappy lives or continuing in unhealthy relationships due to the so called societal pressure. But in such circumstances the outcome is more negative than the positivity such influences claim to hold.

Infact this is something that I have been seeing and experiencing since my childhood. If some members of the society has the free will to think what's best for themselves without considering others opinions their prone to being cut off and shut out like filth. Is independent thinking such a bad option. The people who really don't care about the certain barriers that the society has set, even if they make their own decisions are labelled and judged. Who are these so called know it all? To make such life changing decisions for someone else. If somewhere along the way the independent decision proves to be wrong there are tons of “ I told you so” instead of. “ It's okay to make mistakes”. The imaginary world of perfect people who hide behind masks of fake smiles and laughter is not even humane enough to be considerate about the happiness of others. Unable to get their way they can go to grave lengths leading the victim to take some really bad decisions.

When they have so much to say, we must ask where are they in our time of dire need or sickness or whatnot? Blurting out opinions is an easier way to pretend you care and ruin their life. Infact why not just zip your mouth and let them live their own lives. That would be much more caring than all these norms to be upheld just for the satisfaction of others.

Some points maybe valid. But ultimately the choice resides with you. Nobody has or will ever have the right to make your decisions. Even if you fall think that this happens so that you can soar even higher than before. Live your own life, make your own choices, learn and live with gratitude towards yourself. Don't let anybody to ever have that kind of power over you. You are you, strong and brave. Go get em tiger.

I have also tried writing a short story series in my blogs. Kindly check them in my profile and I'll try to keep it updated often.

Also don't forget to leave comments about how the society has influenced your life be it good or bad .
