Hello friends! How are you? I hope that you are alright and doing well in your life.
Today, I am here with Bhagwad Gita - Chapter 2, Verse 4. So, let's start to read.
Arjuna said: O killer of Madhu [Krishna], how can I counterattack with arrows in battle men like Bhishma and Drona, who are worthy of my worship?
When Krishna explains to Arjuna, then Arjuna again gives excuses to Krishna for not fighting with Kauravas. He addresses Krishna as Madhusudana, which means the killer of the Madhu demon.
He makes excuses that he can not fight with Bhisma, his great grandfather, and Guru Drona, who was his teacher of Archery.
So, Arjuna says this because of respect, which was in his heart for his great grandfather. He has great love and respect for his great grandfather because Bhisma loved Pandavas from childhood and had cared for them always.
Bhishma always cared for them because Duryodhana, eldest Kaurava, and his maternal uncle ‘Shakuni ’ who was the king of Gandhar (which is situated in Afganistan ) tried hard to kill Pandavas. He wanted to kill them because he wanted to see Duryodhana as the king of Hastinapura, not any Pandava.
Shakuni has a great hatred for pandu and Bhisma because Bhisma had asked for the hands of Gandhari, Shakuni's sister. But, Shakuni did not want that because Dhritrashtra was not capable of seeing and he loved very much to his sister.
He wanted a good bride for his sister, not a blind man .shakuni's father also agreed to the marriage of both. That's why he hated Bhishma.
In another incident, when there was to be chosen a king for the kingdom, then, pandu was chosen as king because Dhritarashtra was blind.
So, instead of being Dhritrashtra elder than pandu, he was not chosen as king. And Shakuni wanted Dhritrashtra to become the king of Hastinapura. So, he hated pandu also since then.
When pandu went to the forest with his wives, then he was relaxed and assured that Duryodhana was sure to become the next king. But, when Pandavas returned from the forest, he was angry and wanted to kill all Pandavas. So, he tried hard to kill them.
Arjuna also had respect for Drona because Drona was his teacher and as you know that a student has great respect for a teacher. But in kali yuga, neither teachers are following their duty properly and nor students are so much gentle and humble to the Teacher.
So, he denied killing both of them.
ere it is finished, now we will meet in the next blog.
