How To Be A Better Writer In Candlemonk
Dear Reader,
Thank you.
If you are reading this, you probably have read my previous writings too. I sincerely thank every one of you for reading my blogs and helping to be a better writer. Without you, I wouldn't be writing this one.
This blog is about my journey of writing in CandleMonk. As you all know, the journey is not that easy. Nevertheless, I have started it. The journey ahead is not a cakewalk. Keeping that in mind, let us get into the details.
- Neophobia: The fear of starting something new.
When I started writing on CandleMonk, I had a lot of self-doubts. Blogging was new to me. I have written a few poems, essays and some unfinished stories but never put my work for someone to read it. And just the thought of sharing my write-ups made me paralysed with fear.
How did I overcome this fear?
1. I did a good amount of research on blogging before I started writing blogs. I attended a course on My Captain, where I got some valuable insights about blogging and creative writing.
2. I started to believe in myself.
3. I muted all my inner voices and started writing.
- What am I good at? Finding the Niche.
All the basics of blogging pointed to one thing; a niche. Conventional blogging is about finding a particular area that ignites your creativity, attracts traffic to your site and allures the mass. I was unable to find a theme for my blogs. CandleMonk came as an answer to all these questions. Here we can write about anything. It helps us develop writing skills, enabling us to evolve into better writers.
If you are a beginner or new to this platform keep the following things in mind,
1. Explore the writer in you before settling into a particular niche.
2. The only way to find out whether we are good at something is to try it first.
3. Share your blogs and ask for opinions.
- Growing together
One of the best things about this platform is that it encourages you to read and connect with your fellow writers. Knowing that we all are in the same boat is a relief. Moreover, helping each other to grow together is the underlying quality of a writer.
Tips for growing together:
1. Read- It will prob your thinking and develop new ideas.
2. Like- It's a token of appreciation. Like each other's blogs to motivate each other.
3. Comment- Share your views, suggestions and opinions. Help each other to evolve into the best version.
I hope you guys find some inspiration from this blog. Thank you once again for the support.
With love,
Ganga Ambily Gopi
