Feeling too tired too often? Not wanting to do anything? Is there a surge of negativity brewing immensely in your neuronal circuits? Do you feel worthless? Do you feel sleepy all the time or is sound sleep no longer a part of your routine?
Come on,
We all have come across such situations one or the other time. However feeling these emotions and harbouring negative thoughts on a daily basis for a definite amount of time with constant hopelessness could mean you need medical help.
If we come to statistics almost 7.5 percent individuals in India are suffering from depression. However, many don't want to talk about it considering it to be social stigma. But as a medical health worker I assure you it's just like a physical illness with its signs and symptoms ...With the proper treatment and patience and counseling you will recover and be able to go back to your normal life. It's okay to not be okay.
Here are some of the common symptoms.
1. Lack of interest or motivation in things one used to like.
2. Unable to concentrate.
3. Feeling unnecessarily guilty most of the times.
4. Very low self esteem.
5. Excessive sleep or lack of sleep.
6 . Thoughts of self harm wandering in the mind.
Due to the horrifying pandemic and its inevitable evil of unemployment, boredom, and lockdown there is a considerable hike in incidences of mental health disorders . Hence even a simple thing like resorting to healthy lifestyle and being optimistic wherever possible can prevent us from mental and physical problems. Look after your beloved ones, don't overburden your heart and mind with thoughts, keep the conversation flowing…. Don't let the communication gap make the things even more worse. In these hard times let's fight together by sticking together.
The times are changing. Psychological illness have to be treated like other physical illnesses or else the it would be result in undetectable rise in the illness thus paralysing the individual development . Thus emphasis is all upon early detection and treatment before it actually causes major harm. Health is the greatest gift but often taken for granted. And this needs to change…
I would end this write-up by saying,
One can conquer heights with a strong and sound mind,
So it's high time Mental health needs to be prioritized.
Thanks for your precious time.
Have a nice day.
