Munnar is a beautiful heaven-like place in Idukki district of God's Own Country, Kerala. Idukki's natural beauty is beyond words. You have to experience it. The green mountain ranges, fog and cold temperatures attract tourists to Munnar. It is situated at an altitude of 1800 above sea level. Munnar was developed for tea cultivation during the British rule. “ Munnar” is named after the confluence of three rivers namely Mudrapuzha, Changvarai and Kundala.
Blooming once in twelve years, Neelakurinji will add blue color to grasslands of Munnar is one of the main features. These are the major tourist destinations in Munnar.
1. Eco Point - This is a very interesting place. The special feature of this place is the mountain ranges where the Sound wave resonate.
2. Iravikulam National Park - The endangered Nilgiri tigers are the specialty of this place. Monkeys, buffaloes and elephants can be seen here. The highest peak in Kerala is here.
3. Marayur - Famous as Sandal Museum of Kerala. It is a forest area with sandalwood trees.
4.Rose Garden - A garden decorated with flowers like Rose, Anthurium and Llily in various rows and sizes.
5.Tea Museum – Here we can see the Collection of utensils used during British rule. Also get the opportunity to directly see tea production and buy tea products.
6. Mattupetti
Mattupetti is far distant, 12 kilometers from Munnar town. At 1700 meters above sea level, Mattupetti features a reservoir and an old dam. In this lake, there are also boating facilities.
7. Top station
32 kilometers from Munnar. On the road connecting Munnar and Kodaikanal, this location is about 1700 meters above sea level. A trail extends from the top station to Kodaikanal, where views of Tamil Nadu may be seen to the northwest of the Kundala region and to the south of the Kolukku Hills.
8. Vattavada- Another significant location that has been colonized by contemporary tourists is Vattavada. Terraced farming is a distinctive feature of the western agricultural cultivation region of Vattavada.
9.Kundala Dam- Kundala Dam is built across the Periyar River. Palliwarsal Project Storage Dam. You can also find plantations of eucalyptus trees here. This is a great place for tourists to take photos.
We can see many view points in Munnar throughout the journey. Fresh carrot, roasted corn, salted mango and gooseberry to eat and the trip to Munnar will be a good experience. Also there are places for Elephant ride and Horse ride. Small shopping areas can be found at each of the points.
